Pousada Aleffawi

The staff is friendly, but the owner/manager is not. He seems to be doing the guests a favor all the time. Does not talk or help the guests. It is a shame as the staff is really nice and helpful. It is clean. They do not provide soap (most of B&B in Noronha don't).

Quite expensive for the value for sure but it is Paradise island and you get what you can as space is limited on the island. Super small rooms. My friends room smelled like sewage the whole time (he needed to put something over the drain which did help a bit) The staff are overall friendly and as helpful as they can be. We had fun using Google translator since they don't speak a word of English. I don't know the owners name but she lives on side (we're pretty sure that it's her) and her place which was right next door to our room was extremely well maintained, everyday they would clean the leaves of the queens house, meanwhile the rest of the pousada was getting muddy from the rain. Our room was not cleaned until we asked (which might be how things go there-fine-lesson learned) I repeatedly asked to get the lightbulb fixed in the shower but it was never done. Our stay there was 7 days. Also, we could hear the queen's family next to our room with her two little boys bouncing a ball in their place. Not only could we hear them, we could see the light from their house through our wall. And once I had to bang on the wall because they had their TV on late at night. I felt bad and surely got dirty looks in the morning for it. But we were tired and it really threw us off to arrive to such dire conditions. We are not luxury travellers - stayed in cheap hostels that had more class then this. There are cool huge lizards in the area which apparently have an interesting history. Yes it's out of the way from everything else which was ok. We rented a buggy which made the journey much much better. There are really nice paths in that area to get to a beach near by and nice for morning strolls or runs. the pousada is located right beside where you get your Marine Park Pass (80R) which you need for scuba and getting on some beaches. Also just around the corner there is the Turtle sanctuary information museum (can't remember the name). I also saw some capoeira being taught in the little community hall. We went around to other pousada's in the area and one just up towards downtown (you will see a sign that says "National Geographics recommended" or something like that.. good food, good coffee and the price was 5000R a night I believe. I was hoping to eat lots of fruit while I was on a tropical island but the fruit at the pousada were bad. They were almost rotten. The coffee was probably THE worst coffee I have EVER had. Also they didn't regularly clean the spoons in the sugar which became clumped and of course there were little ants starting to gather. I felt safe mostly eating the breads (which wasn't something I wanted to eat) The one thing I appreciated about out pousada was that we didn't want to hang out there which was inspiring for touring the island. The wifi was weak and no access in our rooms. I do feel a little bad writing this negative review because the workers weren't too bad and they did try. however, it's the island vibe.. these people get the work without effort so why try! I live in a similar place on an isolated island and people are overall quite lazy and our hotels are very expensive for what you get.

This pousada is a bit out of the way making it necessary to use Taxis or the local bus to get to restaurants & bars which are located in the center. The room we stayed in was very small & very basic. I had booked a triple room for me & my 2 boys but it was a double with an extra bed squeezed in. The room was also right by the breakfast area & was very noisy early in the morning as there is no kind of sound isolation. The staff were helpful & set us up with a great buggy driver for a tour of the island & snorkeling trip.
