Hotel Ocean Imperium

I had a bad experience with this hotel. I booked for three nights (not consecutively) and was forced to cancel my final night due to a change in plans. Despite the booking CLEARLY saying that cancellation before a certain date resulted in a full refund, it took me and booking.com a full month to secure this refund. When first contacted the hotel said it would not be offering a refund despite the conditions of booking. Extraordinary behaviour really. Believe it or not, this was not my only problem. I booked an airport transfer/collection. My flight was delayed and I contacted the hotel by e-mail. They assured me that there would be no problem and that they would collect me at the new time. When I landed at Natal, there was no car as promised. When contacted the hotel said to wait 45 minutes and they would be there. They never came and when a kingdy airport infomation desk employee called them after over an hour waiting they said they would not be coming. This is a disgraceful way to treat customers. The hotel said the car could not get to the airport due to adverse weather. Fine, no problem, why did they not tell me that when I called them instead of asking me to wait 45 minutes. It was a total abdication of responsibility. That is why I cannot believe it took me a month to get my money back from a fully refundable booking... and I have seen the internal mail where the hotel point blank refused when contacted by booking.com to honour the terms of the booking. I have travelled to nearly 80 countries and reviewed 150 times on tripadvisor, I have never been treated so shabbily. The irony is, it is a nice , clean hotel though in the middle of nowhere. BE CAREFUL, once you book ad they have your credit card details, I hope you don't have the hassle I had. A pity, but not recommended.

My partner and I stayed here for eight days as we had friends and family nearby. We had a nice room on the second floor with an extra bed for our grandson who came to stay on the odd night. You need a car to get around as the local eateries are very limited. The hotel is only a year old but is still under development as some of the building is not well made. The swimming pool is very clean but lacks a garden. Breakfast was limited but most of the time we were the only guests. The owner manager is a lovely lady who is very helpful and goes out of her way to please. She also gives a great massage so book her in!
