I feel compelled to express how appalling this hotel was. I am not one to complain and am the first to be an optimist and see the best in things however having our Honeymoon ruined and leaving after just one night into a ten night stay I must inform you that this hotel is completely unlike it is described on the website. I am English and my wife is Brazilian so I will write this review in english, sorry for all the portuguese speakers but I hope you will find google translate useful so you can understand the terrible time we had here. My wife and I married on the Saturday and flew out on the Sunday to stay at Pousada da Vigia. It went downhill from the moment we set foot in the hotel. We arrived 30 minutes early which clearly made the receptionist/ housekeeper extremely unhappy as it meant taking away precious time from sitting looking on facebook. We unloaded our bags and checked in only to have to reload them back into the taxi to drive up the hill to our apartment which is set across the carpark from the main hotel. (Just to point out we had no idea this was the case and were led to believe through the photos on the website that it would overlook the ocean.) Instead of an ocean view we overlooked a host of old water tanks and the roof of the main building. Upon arrival in the (luxury suite) which we paid £200 per night for and was far from luxury we discovered that the LEVEL OF CLEANLINESS WAS SHOCKINGLY BAD! There were dead bugs on the window sills and the jacuzzi was filled with them also. Everything in the room was outdated and not what you would expect if you were paying such a high price per night. Furthermore the jacuzzi was cold and could not be heated. We stayed the night hoping that things may improve in the morning. Breakfast was cheap and frankly we usually eat better at home not to mention the communal area which was decorated with threadbare rugs and chairs so outdated even your grandparents wouldn't have them, not to mention the stench of wet dog! We were recommended the hotel by my wife's parents who stayed there 10 years ago and by the looks of things it hadn't been updated maintained or properly cleaned since then. As we took their recommendation on it being great which it certainly was not! We left that evening and flew home without so much as an apology from the owner or the receptionist who could clearly see the distress caused that we were having to leave early from our Honeymoon. The Hotel is clearly a sinking ship and as you can see from the terrible recent reviews its going under but still charging the same extortionate prices it used to. It currently looks nothing like the photos on the website so please avoid believing it is a good place to stay as it simply is not for that price. What a disappointment after such a beautiful wedding. I cannot stress enough to you how much I wish I could turn back time and avoid staying here. Please don't make the same mistake we did!

We have been there from May 22nd and left May 28th. What a place !!!! You can sleep with the sound of the weaves, and wake up with the sound of fishermen. Beautiful beach Lagoinha , green water and the buildings around are mostly houses. This pousada in one edge of the beach on a " morro" sloap, you can walk to the beach from the place through stairs in the garden. The whole decoration needs to be " refreshed", and would add some lamps with good light in the bedroom to read when being in bed.Very small room, big very comfortable bed, with soft sheets. Towels are brazilian, always good . The decoration of the bedrooms specially craves for decoration, just some lamps, and coverlets a mirror and some nice brazilian crafts of good sizes (not many small things on the walls) would make a diference. The bathroom too needs to be updated,I would put a bidet instead of that wc shower, good lights and would look at the bottom of shower glass doors, they need to look better. We ate almost every night at the restaurant of the Pousada, DELICIOUS, everything we ate was so so good ! The lady at the kitchen is not only a great chef, but such a kind person ! Her name is Solange she works also at breakfast time and she was, utterly nice wellcoming and respectfull. Her daughter also woorks at reception, and sometimes at the restaurant, her name is Adriana, she was also fantastic, kind and respectfull, always with a smile and intelligent eyes. Yes all people working at this pousada plus the view, and the food, make you forget about all the wornout look, all around. No doubt they are the ones that who made our stay perfect

This little Pousada is absolutely stunning. Driving there we came through a quiet district, which was a little run-down and began to wonder if the place wouldn't be as nice as it had looked when we booked it… we needn't have worried and as soon as we arrived any doubts were instantly dispelled. The staff were amazing, every single one of them - friendly, smiley and on hand to help with anything, including booking taxis for us and acting as interpretors arranging transfers to the airport and boat trips etc. The evening food was nice and the views from the little restaurant area are amazing, and teamed perfectly with the cocktails! Breakfast is fantastic, the fresh fruit selection and the jams were brilliant as were the cooked-to-order eggs. The view from the balcony in the sea view room we stayed in is breathtaking. The only slight downside was the fan and the air con were a little loud, but then I'd much rather have had that and the heat, than not needed the fan or the air con as a result of a cooler temperature! And sitting watching the sun go down over the bay with chilled bubbles was magical and relaxing. The little pathway down to the beautiful beach is great and the sun-loungers and parasols are a nice touch. The sand is white, soft and clean and the sea so clear that you can see the fish swimming around you. The waves and current are gentle making it perfect for swimming and splashing about in. The veranda was really well laid out, as were the communal areas, though with a bay as beautiful as this on the doorstep, we didn't use them much - though had the weather not been as lovely, we would have made more use of them. Really I can't explain how lovely a place this is, or how lovely the staff are; words don't do it justice - just go there, you certainly won't be disappointed!
