My stay at this hotel, paid by the company for a work trip where rest was a basic necessity, exposed something greater than a hospitality problem: the culture of compliance with the minimum. There seems to be a silent logic that, if the daily is basic, the guest must accept precariousness. As if paying less meant giving up cleanliness, comfort and respect.
I stayed in room 222 and the structure transmits abandonment: old and deteriorated furniture, tortured wardrobe, cold and uncomfortable white lighting, bad-signal TV, noisy fridge. The bathroom was clearly not well sanitized, hair on the wall, mold on the tiles (no exhaust and no window), dirty box, fingerprint on the mirror. The blanket smelled unpleasant and had a piece of nail or rice, I know what it was, in bed
But the worst was the show of noises, doors knocking very loud, objects being dragged at absurd times, even late at night and at dawn. Do not rest
I woke up scared several times
And the most impressive is how it seems normalized. The implicit logic is: ‘it’s cheap, so accept’. This thought is exactly what keeps standards low forever. People get used to the precarious, defend the precarious and the market continues to deliver the precarious. Nobody's asking for luxury. No, just dignity.
Small details very well show this structural gap: basic rooms without even a dryer, banal item in simple hotels of countless other cities, furniture without maintenance, aesthetics and concept trapped in another era, including with bible in common areas and rooms, something displaced to an environment that should be neutral and welcome guests of any beliefs.
There you will see and have a lot of positive reviews, these positive reviews may reveal just this problem: many people conform to little because they were taught to thank for little. I don't normalize that. I will report to my experience to the company the experience.
Modest price does not justify negligent service. Basic is not synonymous with precarious
