CARIBOU LODGE AND SPA

First & foremost - the Caribou Lodge & Spa has NO air conditioning in rooms. The lobby and restaurant IS air conditioned. We were there late July 2026 and it was warm. Upon returning from a day's outing, we would sit in the lobby until 8-9pm to cool off. A small fan was provided for the room. We opened the window and put the fan on a table in front of the window to sleep, but it was not adequate, made quite the loud buzzing noise, and we were right over the front of the hotel entrance. Busses arriving/departing, people gathering in the front of the hotel made it a noisy spot, not to mention they could look right into our room with the window open & curtains pulled back to get air! The room furnishings were extremely outdated & very tired for the price point we paid. The Caribou is a 15-min. walk to town center for restaurants, bars, shopping, etc.; however, the hotel provided free ROAM bus vouchers to ride, for free to town center. We had pre-purchased a daily breakfast plan and needed it "to-go" our last morn. The night restaurant staff instructed us to turn in our 2 vouchers the night prior, for "to-go" breakfast, the following morn. The next morning, we were handed 1 breakfast to go. Seems the morn staff could not grasp that we handed over 2 breakfast vouchers to the night staff. We couldn't prove we handed over 2 vouchers - seems they just couldn't locate it anywhere. After much discussion/arguing back & forth we got our 2nd "to-go" breakfast.

The dining for this hotel is a steakhouse, which is very niche. The room service options therefore very expensive and limited. If you like steak, ribs, red meat then this is the place for you. If you are vegan or vegetarian then the place is positively offensive. Dead Caribou Lodge more like. No room cleaning today and no drinks allowed in the lounge either: it's teakhouse or nothing folks! And not a pool for swimming, just a series of linked hot tubs which quickly get crowded, as it's a big place. Promises much but doesn't really deliver. And it's our of town. Need the bus. They give you a free transit card.

The hotel has dated rooms and poor access passes to the room. Several times in our 2 night stay had to return to reception because the pass did not work. Furthermore, there was no air conditioning in the room, which is not pleasant in the summer. The restaurant, on the other hand, is excellent.
