Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Bonnyville

Nobody cared…weeds in front of the hotel greeted us upon arrival. It was as 30c outside and when you entered you got blasted with hot air by a heater. Garbage was overflowing in the entry way. Reception staff made us wait to complete some other tasks. After check in went to the room. Elevator was fast, but it looked like it had not been vacuumed in day. Went to the pop machine and there was a big spill (Friday) It was kinda removed on Sunday morning. You could still see the footprints from people that step in it as well as pop under the machine. In the room, very spacious we found stains on the bed side table and table beside the arm chair. Same white stains were run down on the outside of the fridge. The inside had still veins in it from the last guest. Food stains were also on the brown cabinet beside the fridge. The toilet seat in the bathroom was to small for the toilet. Every time you sat down you weee Sitten partially on the porcelain toilet bowel. The pump for the soap by the sink was not working. At one point in time soap dripped onto the vanity and the area was really sticky. Breakfast, great selection for a hot breakfast. Three staff were working but supplies were missing both days we ate there. They only offered toast wich did not get refilled after asking. Staff response: we did not have time, forks missing , no dough for waffles, coffee mugs,..toaster took forever and so did the Waffel maker. Both days same issues. Overall staff did not look happy working there.

My family and I drove hours to Bonnyville to attend a graduation and while the rooms were really nice, staff were pleasant at check in/out, our experience left little to be desired to return in the future. We had a very long day/evening and wanted to relax in the pool, do a few laps and then hit the hot tub to unwind. We encountered total chaos in the pool. There were about a dozen children yelling, screaming, running around, doing back flips off of chairs they had moved to the sides , jumping into the pool and going outside through pool exit doors to throw rocks in the parking lot where there were multiple vehicles parked. The 2 adults that were "chaperoning" these kids did nothing. They were on their phones the whole time. By time I mean the 2 hours we were in there. Yes, We waited 2 hours to go into that pool. We couldn't use it because of the kids. We sat in the hot tub all that time patiently waiting to hopefully get a chance to swim in the pool and we (as in more than one of us) mentioned this to the front desk staff 5 times in that 2 hour time frame. They did not speak with the adults, they did not ask the kids to tone it down or stop jumping, running , yelling or throwing rocks outside. They did not ask them to leave the pool area. There is signage up that clearly states no horseplay no running etc Respectfully - It was like we were at a zoo with monkeys gone wild. It was the most disrespectful group I have ever encountered. They were rude to the point that when the staff left the pool they yelled and screamed even louder even though staff didn't speak to them . I will never stay here again or recommend it to any of my friends or family. I used to use this facility to book employees from out of town when I did live/work in Bonnyville. I instantly regretted that when I stayed here. Note: when we asked if they had gluten free options for the breakfast they did not know what we were talking about and they do not have gluten free options other than fresh fruit food wise for breakfast. We had to go elsewhere to eat.

Terrible experience at this hotel. The rooms are not clean, the bare minimum. I’m trying not to think about the bedding and if it was even cleaned. Even in the washroom- There were footprints from large work boots clearly visible. Check in clerks were dismissive- when I asked if I could move to room further down from the elevator, they said the other available rooms haven’t been cleaned (not like it makes a difference at this place.) I offered to wait for a later check in and wait for a different room to get cleaned and the clerk then informed me that the rooms aren’t getting cleaned tonight. The hotel was overrun by parents with awful children. I get that these parents don’t want to spend time with their kids, but to let the kids run up and down the hallways yelling till 11:15 at night is excessive- when I called the front desk, surprise surprise no one answers. The heat in the room is faulty- temperature increased by 7° the room was cooking & heat wouldn’t stop. Shower curtain is ripped & barely hanging on. The shower head is in desperate need of replacement & the faucet is loose on the wall. This hotel management doesn’t seem to want to keep the hotel clean or in repair. Definitely give this place a miss.
