We really like staying at the Days Inn in Calgary. This trip was not great since the elevator was not functioning the whole week we were there! We are 78 and 83 with a bad knee. Luckily we were on the 2nd floor but doing stairs was hard. Raffy at the desk did what he could for us and we really appreciated him. He got someone to take our luggage up and down the stairs for us. We were compensated a little on our bill for the inconvenience but not enough. The room was very nice and clean and even though it was close to the train it was very quiet and slept great. The restaurant was very nice and the food very good. The breakfast was very good with lots of choices. Janet who is in there some days is the best!

We were there for 5 nights from the UK specifically for the Stampede. We were told that the lift was broken so we had to use the stairs and we were on the 4th floor. This affected my whole stay at the hotel. I have no objection using stairs and will nearly always choose stairs for the exercise but not 4 flights every time I wanted to go to my room. I am in my seventies and thought the hotel should have put us on a lower floor when we arrived. I couldn’t wait to leave to be honest.
The restaurant was expensive and the food wasn't great. The breakfasts were lacking choice and very dull and ordinary.
The cleaning of the rooms was cursory and little effort made. A message was not passed on to the cleaner to clean the room when I accidentally left the sign on the door so I came back late to an unmade bed.
On our first night I was woken by a knock on the door regarding a question about the payment on my debit card which had gone through successfully and was easily answered the next morning.
On the upside the bed was very comfortable.
In contrast to my stay here we stayed at the Holiday Inn in Vancouver for the same price as your hotel. Everything there was completely different – the rooms were cleaned immaculately, the lifts worked, and the breakfast had a lot of choice.
I am not sorry for leaving this review because I think it is important that you understand the impression that was left with me as an overseas visitor coming to you for five nights for a very special event.

There is nothing to complain about regarding the hotel as such ... typical Days Inn standard.
However, we experienced useless management performance.
At check-in, it was said, "Unfortunately, the elevator is not working," "The rooms on the first floor are full; you have to go to the second floor." OK, a broken elevator can happen. Now for the useless management performance! The elevator had already been out of order for four days before our arrival, and it was still broken when we departed three days later. That means: no elevator for a week. That leaves enough time to organize a luggage service! But no, no help is organized there. A week without an elevator and no alternative offered, that is just not okay. Complete management failure.
There’s nothing wrong with the hotel itself… typical Days Inn standard.

Now, about that appalling management! The elevator had been out of order for four days before we arrived, and it was still out of order when we checked out three days later.
