Banff Caribou Lodge & Spa

Arrived quite late in the evening following a couple of days on the Rocky Mountaineer train. At reception we were quickly checked in to our Superior King room with balcony. The room was fine and the air conditioning coped well with all the various weather conditions from hot sun to snow that we experienced during our stay. The Keg bar and restaurant served our needs well. In the mornings there was a choice of menu or self-serve buffet breakfast while evenings could be spent having a meal or drink. Service was very good. The hotel is located about a 20 minute stroll from the Banff downtown shops and bars but not to worry because the hotel offers a bus pass that can be used to reach many various locations from a stop virtually right outside. Very convenient. Banff itself is delightful and the Caribou is an excellent place to spend time there.

The first hotel in our Canada trip and really comfortable accommodation - don't understand how reviews are so mixed. Positive first impression, all the staff were welcoming and efficient. We were given a Roam Transit Pass for our stay and used the bus service to the Gondola and into town several times. Plus there was a Rocky Mountaineer desk in the lobby. Big bedrooms, with tired furniture,, but comfortable large beds and good wifi throughout. Extensive buffet breakfast and also chef came to table to ask if all okay offer additional items...........overall would thoroughly recommend.

Carla/karla at reception was LOVELY! And so informative during our check in, we’d had a nightmare journey and she was so helpful and kind! The lodge has such beautiful character! Not your plain and boring modern hotel, no, it’s not brand new, the wood in our room could do with a sand and varnish and there was a lot of dust behind the bedside table, but it was also the cheapest non hostel in Banff! So we were very pleased when we compared the price of this hotel to others for the stay and would definitely got back if we were in Banff again. Please moan about the price as it’s expensive, but all of Banff is expensive so this was value for money
