This is specific praise for Ryan Schultz, a manager in the in-room dining department. We got to the property late, after a full day of touring, and we were exhausted. Neither the physical in-room dining menu nor the QR-code one had anything that looked like a dinner we would want, and going down to one of the restaurants was NOT in the cards. So we asked Room Service to give us the menus for the restaurants on the property, and we put together a dinner from one of them, with dessert from another. AND RYAN MADE IT HAPPEN. I can only imagine the hoops he might have had to jump through, but 45 minutes later, there it was on a room service table in our room. Bravo Zulu Ryan Schultz!!!

I first stayed here in 2009, when it was much less expensive but still a HUGE splurge at the time. I recalled the fabulous views, luxury rooms, and wonderful hikes.
I returned in July: It's now quite pricey, but definitely worth the splurge. The property setting just can't be beat. The rooms in the Mount Temple wing are spacious and modern; some--like ours--have a peekaboo view of the lake. It is connected to the main building, but is a bit of a trek with various levels and elevators to consider. There is a handy, large parking facility.
For those with the means, the lakeview rooms in the main building would be ideal.
The breakfast buffet and dinner at the Lakeview Lounge were wonderful. We didn't get to use their lavish spa or the unique Basin Glacial Waters, which has direct views of the lake, but met guests who loved both.
Location context:
The Fairmont is right at the lake, so you can see the views from within the property, and easily walk out to the trails. If you stay elsewhere, parking becomes an issue. I was up at 5:30 a.m. and there were already a good number of visitors outside for sunrise. From the gated areas of the Fairmont, you can see the hordes of tourists going around the lake throughout the day.
Lake Louise is also a good location to go north to the Columbia Icefields.
Highly recommended!

We paid $1800 USD for one night to be assigned to room 3942 which overlooked a row of dumpsters. I understand that I did not pay the up charge for the lake view but was promised a of view of the mountains not trash! We were placed in a wing of the hotel at the end of the hallway. This area of the hotel was under construction. It included us walking past wet paint, cracked floor tiles, and other areas of disrepair. Nothing about the room’s location or view felt luxurious at all and I can help but feel ripped off! Very disappointed.
