HILTON GARDEN INN EDMONTON AIRPORT

Overall the staff was great, made you feel like family, Rav and the cooks, most accommodating, I stayed at the Leduc International Airport location

In a way, this hotel is a bit like the opposite of hotels which I tend to like : we had a boring room, nothing memorable, and if looking at pictures of the room I would have no idea which country it is.  This hotel is quite unique for a North American airport hotel because they have lots of suites and they are very big, but unfortunately they were stingy at check-in and only upgraded +1 to a room with two queen rather than upgrade to a suite as Hilton Lifetime Diamond guest.  In their defense HGI is not part of the Diamond upgrade program so not upgrading at all is not a breach of T&C, but since many other hotels are more generous than this, I tend to consider the end result more than what hotels are required to do or not required to do. The good point of this hotel was that breakfast was a la carte, rather than a weak buffet.  Unfortunately there were no fruits available at all, except small slices of oranges.  Not even apples. It would be an easy improvement to make - a breakfast with fruits is not exactly ground-breaking. If this was the only hotel near YEG airport I would return, because it did not have glaring weaknesses or problems. But given the level of local competition, next time I will probably try another hotel instead.

This is an old and broken down hotel - not worthy of the Hilton name. Staff of pleasant, and it is close to the airport, but that is where any good experience ends. The fountain out front is powered by a leaking hose, the stucco is peeling off the front of the building, the carpets are rippling, torn and thin. The walls and doors have many blemishes / missing paint and dents, and door to my room 411, does not close on its own. The towel rack is rusty, there is cracked tile in the shower and the bed creaks. This cost of the room was in line with other hotels in the area - you will not save much, if any money, by finding a newer / better maintained hotel. It will not stay here again. There are many more modern and better taken care of options at the Airport.
