Tired hotel in a Great location

So after all the reviews which weren’t that great , we have been pleasantly surprised.. We arrived to Vancouver via cruise ship, and disembarked quite early and arrived at the hotel way before any rooms were available. But the lady looking after us ,and I think her name was Teresa ,quickly stored our luggage and gave us a map and told us to come back at about 12 o’clock for the possibility of getting into our suite early. Sure enough when we arrived back around 1230 we had a room ready for us.. so we were very pleasantly surprised when we came into our rooms. They are super clean and tidy and with a very nice kitchenette and a table for two. Also a large lounge and a separate chair ,a desk ,a coffee table and a very very big TV in the lounge area.. and there was a separate bedroom area with a lovely bed -which was very comfortable last night ,and plenty of hanging space.. there is also more hanging space in the hall area -which is opposite the little laundry cupboard that has the washing machine in it. And there is a very nice bathroom with a bath and a shower and plenty of bench space. I don’t actually know what else you would need.??? We have a small balcony that looks out onto the city and last night we weren’t disturbed by any noise at all.. we like the area that we’re in. It’s quite vibrant. There’s lots of people around ,plenty of shops and a quick walk in any direction and you are at some water point.. the harbour or a beach. So as it is, we are very happy and we are actually transferring in five days to another Sandman property closer to the hotel..

Liked it · The location of the hotel is absolutely fantastic!! Daviestreet, where the hotel is located, is one of the main streets in downtown. There are 24-hour shops directly across the street and all around, endless pubs, and the nearest bus stop is just 50-100 meters away (we found the public transport network in Vancouver to be quite excellent). Even the beach, English Bay, is easily reachable on foot. We had a room on the 20th floor. With a balcony (all rooms have this) and we immensely enjoyed the view over the city and the sea view. The kitchen of the apartment was simple but adequately equipped. The bathroom was great, and the air conditioning worked very well. Overall, we felt very, very comfortable in this apartment and would definitely go back there. Did not like it · The amenities listed included a washing machine and dryer, and we relied on that when packing our clothes, meaning we had to do laundry. Unfortunately, that was not so easy, as the washing machine was installed in a cabinet in such a strange way that we had to be a bit clever to gain access to the detergent compartment. We were able to operate the integrated dryer by downloading the user manual from the internet, which the hotel could have provided. What we unfortunately did not like at all was that the pool was closed. We had booked this hotel partly for the reason that we always enjoy swimming a few laps in the evening and found it very annoying that this was not possible.
