A wonderful welcome by Front Desk check in Wendy. She was not only informative and had answers for all our questions, she was so friendly. Wendy is an asset to your establishment. Cook and Butcher was exceptional. I understand even though it is physically part of the hotel it is not part of the hotel itself. But wow what a fantastic asset to your Hotel. Food fabulous and our dining experience was highlighted from server Ryan. She was fabulous. Beautiful location, our room looked like it had been newly renovated and Lo key. Clean, lovely kitchenette. Beds very very comfortable.

We just stayed here for 2 nights. This is an older family run property with some nicely updated suites. We were fortunate to get a newer suite with updated mini-kitchen appliances and cupboards, etc. We loved the new laminate flooring in our particular suite and the suite itself was very clean. Parking was very tight but Janis at reception quickly solved our issue and made room for a spot close by as we travel with a manual wheelchair. There was not an accessible suite available on our dates so I cannot comment on that type of suite and we can usually manage if needed in a reg suite in a pinch. We explained this to staff but both Janis and Jenny still went over the top for us offering various adaptive pieces of equipment (ie. bath-chair, etc.) The surrounding area is quite hilly for a manual wheelchair user to get from the hotel to the neighbouring restaurants and shops and there are no sidewalks on the narrow road going through this cute small village. This is obviously not a complaint about the property itself - it is just a note to others with mobility issues who are considering a stay here in the future. The in-hotel restaurant is excellent and the pub next store was great too if wanting to avoid hills. It was fun to see dozens of hilarious (albeit a bit noisy) sea lions out front on the docks during our stay. Some people may want earplugs at night (avail at reception) but we loved the unique and local experience that these weird creatures provided us with. :) :)

We went for a family get away end of August. I love the Cowichan Area so what better than a nice ocean view hotel. This hotel has an Amazing view of Cowichan Bay no doubt. It located right beside the small village and a walking distance from all the little shops and bars. These are the good points Sadly this hotel also has a number of issues that cancel that great view. The hotel cleaning staff are not doing their job. While the rooms are very modern, the cleaning was pitiful. Food bits on the floor. The sofa bed which we used had never been cleaned under. Food crumbs on sofa bed (see pic). A stained sheet (blood) and other little things. The bathroom sink was clogged and thankfully they quickly fixed it but again its a quality control issue that the cleaning and maintenance staff are not attending to. Lastly, we wanted to sit outside and enjoy the patio chairs but a horrid smell kept wafting from the vents of the restaurant right into the area. Was not a plesant food aroma but like a rotting smell. Not ocean smell either. Was like a waste water type smell mixed with food scraps. For the price and these things I would only recommend this place if you only want to sit on the couch and stare out the window.
