You know you are not in a hotel when the instructions say you must empty your trash before leaving room. That meant go around room to service two waste baskets, then down the hall to the end where the elevators are, take it down to first parking level, head out to parking lot through some doors, walk to main driveway thru parking lot, look for trash bins, which are at the other end of the garage, then head there to deposit into trash compactor. Mind you, we paid about $500US per night for this room.
Facility seems to be a collection of owner apartments that are managed by the Glacier Lodge organization. Or “Impeccable Glacier Lodge” as they are trying to market themselves on some booking sites. Hah, what a joke. Hotel has no facet of its existence that I would call impeccable. It’s a tired old building that hordes of skiers walk thru every day. Place needs a deep cleaning and a renovation of its dingy corridors.
Front desk person could care less when I called around 10 am to ask if an early checkin would be possible. He said guests were just checking out and housekeeping should get on the room right away. He reminded me that official checkin is 4:00 or something. I figure I am alerting them now so they can do something to help me out, customer service style. Came to hotel around 1:00ish, room not available. Asked if he had requested housecleaning prioritize my room, he said he hadn’t. Cooled our heals for about 30-45 minutes but got into room.
Room 108 was nicely appointed but crammed into a very small space. about 150 sq ft. for bedroom
Pluses
- 2 luggage racks
- 2 chairs around small table
- fireplace
- microwave
- water boiler, drip coffee machine and french press
Minuses
- no reading lamps, just a very bright overhead light
- no bureau to put clothes in if staying longer
- limited storage space for food
- no space for second luggage rack but low table near entrance door served. BTW very odd layout. You come into 5ft x 5 entry way then a 10ft x 3ft corridor, then the 10ft x 15 bedroom
- unclear if the room intentionally provided the ground coffee or just left over from prior visitors
- bathroom tub with water intrusion and resulting stains where tub meets plastic wall surface made the bathroom look pretty bad compared to the previous night at the far cheaper and far nicer Hyatt Regency in Vancouver.
I still don’t understand why owner did not have housecleaning empty the trash. Honestly how much could that have cost ?
