Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Winnipeg

During check-in, I was asked if the hotel could photocopy my credit card as part of the $200 security deposit process. I declined, and the staff respected my decision they did not photocopy it. However, I was surprised that this was requested in the first place. I’ve stayed at many hotels that require a security deposit, but I’ve never been asked to have my credit card photocopied. I’m genuinely curious about the purpose of this policy, especially when the deposit can be handled through a standard pre authorization on the card. It would be helpful if the hotel explained why a photocopy is requested and how guests’ financial information would be protected if they agree to it.

The room was clean. Very well located and easy to walk to the Jets' game. Good continental breakfast. The parking lot was small during the winter and they had some water problems in the yard, but they worked to clear the drain. The windows were a little dated, but we had a nice view of the Human Rights Museum from our room.

We got a 2 queen room, it was very spacious with a sofa, an armchair, a desk and 2 chairs, and plenty of room in between. It looks renovated. Very clean. I was impressed. The location is central - easy walk to the Forks as well as rest of downtown. There was a train right in front of our window, but it didn't bother us at all. We always keep a low volume sound machine on at night anyway for the kids. The free breakfast was sufficient with hot and cold items. We enjoyed it on all 3 days. Definitely great value!
