Kingsbrae Arms Relais & Chateaux

When I saw that the Kingsbrae Arms was part of the Relais & Chateaux network and that the nightly cost was higher than any other we paid on our trip, I assumed we could expect a high level of quality, service and attention to detail. In reality, there were weeds in the driveway, dying plants in the planters at our entry door, dead insects on our room floor, missing items in our room, and only one other couple staying. The place felt dead. In addition, a pile of junk was sitting to the right of the entry driveway and the sign on the front door giving check-in times was a home-made note taped on at an angle, giving another appearance of a lack of attention to detail that I wouldn't expect at a Relais & Chateaux property. Lastly, the coffee served at breakfast was hazelnut flavored without asking if that would be a preference. Only one staff member appeared to be there and working very hard. For the price we paid, it was a pretty shocking experience. The house is lovely and the bed and linens were very nice. Otherwise, the quality for price was not there.

Wonderful casually elegant inn with phenomenal breakfast included! Easy walk to downtown. Patio out back was relaxing with gardens literally over the hedge. Pleasant hosts who make you feel like you are staying with friends. I wish that we had stayed longer. Could not have been nicer.

This is definitely a gem of an inn in Saint Andrews. The main section of the inn and the backyard patio are breathtaking, such an enjoyable setting to unwind. The staff were perfect, there really wasn't anything else we could have wanted, we will definitely be back.
