Cranberry Golf Resort

The apartment was large and adequate but in need of some TLC. The problem we had was that they decided to start renewing the cladding whist we were staying there. We were in an upper flat and we had no privacy with workers on ladders around our windows and on our balcony. The hammering was incessant, there was no chance of a quite glass on wine in the sun on the balcony. Nails were everywhere, on the balcony, in the grass and on the driveway. One of our party hurt their foot on a nail on the balcony and we had to remove the nails from the driveway each time we moved our hire car. We complained twice and the 2nd time we asked to speak to a manager but there wasn't one available in the whole resort, what a surprise, so we asked the receptionist to get a manager to phone us but no call was received, that wasn't such a surprise. The resort was OK but the management don't seem to want to hear if you have a complaint.

Very disappointed with this stay. The RCI website shows a picture of Law Cranberry Resort (Living Stone) but we were put in a unit on another street. This is the old “Bait & switch” scheme. That meant that we had to commute to the main building to use the facilities and head over to the golf course if we wanted to use the outdoor pool. Our 2-bedroom unit was neat, very spacious and we enjoyed the indoor pool and hot tub. Unfortunately, that was the extent of the positives. The unit was extremely out-dated and there were several shoddy repairs visible. Both the carpet and vanities had stains and were obviously very old. There was noise from construction to the exterior of the units behind us … when it seemed to us the interiors would have be a better place to start. The toilet tank was leaking and required repair by the maintenance team, the smoke alarm starting going off during the night (batteries needed replacing) and the TV remote did not allow us to turn down the volume. The hot water kettle appeared to have never been cleaned so we bought vinegar to bring it back to a useable state. The unit was on a second floor so not suited for someone with mobility issues.

We were placed in a “multi-use” building. That meant that the building is intended to be a retirement living quarters, and we were on one of the floors that was still unoccupied. Our studio was large enough, but extremely sterile. In September in Collingwood, there are no crowds, and there is no need to put anyone in “overflow” facilities. As for the rest of the “resort”, we used none of the facilities, and the restaurant on the water was highly overpriced.
