Crowne Plaza Gatineau-Ottawa

Never go there! It is a poorly maintained hotel with an unsanitary pool and bad customer service that brings shame to the IHG brand. It's no wonder the reviews are bad. I hadn't seen them before going there. I should have! After looking at the website that promised a clean room and a very nice heated pool. I checked in, then went to see the pool, which was green, slimy, and unsanitary. You couldn't see the bottom, and toilet paper was floating in it. Moreover, it wasn't heated! Then, I saw the room, and it hadn't been cleaned in a long time; there were dust bunnies on the floor and hair on the bathroom walls, and dust on all the furniture, a lot of it. The bed had questionable stains. The sofa was old even though the hotel is new. I went back downstairs to say that I wanted to leave and not be charged because I had only entered and exited the room after seeing its unacceptable condition. The receptionist came to see the room with me and agreed that it was in bad shape, and the manager went to check the pool on his side and refused to give me either his comments or his name, and he denied my request for a refund. I left anyway. I was not going to sleep there. I was disgusted. Since then, I have spent hours trying to get a refund, and the manager refuses. I have contacted the brand. I am waiting. DON'T GET TRAPPED, DON'T GO THERE! Especially not with children, the pool is unsanitary, dangerous, and the management washes their hands of it.

This is a great choice when staying in the Ottawa area. I like this hotel because it is more affordable than staying in Ottawa yet you are very close to Ottawa. The beds are very comfortable. The hotel offers free parking. You are right accross the street from the casino and there is a supermarket accorss the street also. Will definitely stay here again if I am in the area.

PRO: room clean, hotel location, mattress/pilows comfy CONS: Bedding on the thin/light size. Elevator card prevent to visit other floor, we had friends staying in and had a room on the 9th floor(us on the 2nd).. no can do but to climb 7 flight of stairs to visit them...ridiculous. AC/heater belong to the 60's, noisy, clicking noises when starting, once again when it gets to the proper heat and twice before stopping. Theres a huge 8' by 14' empty space between the bed and the window.... a nice sectional couch and a coffee table would have been nice and provided us a place to sit other than on the bed. Huge lack of furniture and design. Semi see-thru blinds not to par...blackened curtains is a must as it let lights from the street in. Smoke alarm strobe light would have turned the room into a discotheque if only the room would have been dark..a simple green light to indicates that it works would have been sufficient. Very annoying when trying to sleep. Neighbour tv on all night....(thanks for the noisy AC/heather to block the noise while running) and 2 phone calls at 4am..insulation is very below standard. Small bath tub with shower curtain....seriously it's 2026...a nice glass door shower is now the norm.. Small fridge noisy when starting. 42 inches TV seems small in the good size room and overdue to be replaced as there's yellow spot thru out the screen. The room phone had a buzzing sound coming out of it..had to unplug it. All in all. For a fairly recently built Hotel (2023 ish) it is already past its time....
