Hampton Inn And Suites By Hilton Guelph

Not sure why the Hampton Inn in Guelph has got some bad reviews. We stayed one night and the room was fitted out well, the beds comfy and the shower good. We had a good stay here and a good nights sleep. Ask for a top floor room.

Terrible service! After arriving, we were told our room had flooded (they called us a few hours earlier to confirm our reservation and the parking lot was completely full, so obviously it had been overbooked). The employee there told us we'd have to go to their sister hotel, Spark by Hilton, and couldn't offer any other details about what we would be charged, why we weren't contacted ahead of time, and told us we would have to speak to management at the other hotel the next day. Instead of actually speaking to her manager on the phone, she would text him and tell us we'd have to wait for the answer before she could give us information. No apology whatsoever, no directions, no number to contact to follow up. I've never had such terrible service. We then spent multiple days arguing with management to get anything at all in terms of compensation.

What a scam. When we arrived there at 1:30 a.m. after a 6 hour drive, we were told that our reservation was cancelled du to a supposed flooding. This is for sure overbooking as the entire parking was full and they called us a 5 p.m. to comfirm we were still going. They sent us to a cheaper sister hotel (shocker, they own it as well) and charged us the same amount. Image, after all this, they charged us like 60$ more than the usual price for a cheaper hotel. It took us like 5 days to finally get management to refund our points we used (which got us the rate we had which was 60$ more than the cheaper hotel) and a 30$ refund. In their mind, what they dis was ok and there was no difference between a Hamptons Inn and a Spark Hotel. Seriously, one doesn't even serve hot breakfast. This is shameful and disrespectful. Never book here! FYI: we booked on their websire and note on a 3rd party. This still happened.
