We stayed at Tally Ho Inn, just outside of Huntsville, and overall had a pretty good experience. The location is excellent if you’re looking for somewhere serene and peaceful, with beautiful surroundings that really give you that Muskoka getaway feeling. Our cabin was nice and comfortable. The AC worked well, the beds were comfy, and we had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. There are also a ton of amenities here, including tennis, basketball and pickleball courts, kayaks, canoes, and paddleboats, which is where we unfortunately found some of the shortcomings. We were told that the amenities were available from 9 AM to 7 PM, but the office closes at 5 PM. That became confusing because after 5 PM, there’s no access to the life jackets, paddles, balls, rackets, etc. We would have loved to take a canoe out around sunset, but that simply wasn’t possible because of the way the equipment access worked. It would be nice if there were a way to access the equipment during the full advertised amenity hours. There were also geese droppings pretty much everywhere, so definitely watch where you’re stepping! 😂 A few of the other rules and policies were also a little unclear to us, so better communication and clearer information would definitely improve the experience. That being said, we still had a good time here. The peaceful location, comfortable cabin, and amount of amenities make this a nice option for a Muskoka getaway. We just wish some of the amenities were a little more accessible and the rules were communicated more clearly.

This resort of various cottages is probably a bustling place in summer months...we came in April as a getaway because they have some cottages with wood fireplaces and the snow was rapidly disappearing, so a little road trip sounded good. The fireplace kindling we bought from them was in a sealed bag and would not ignite as it was damp, thankfully we had brought a bit of our own wood to get things started ...once we gad a fire going we noticed the fireplace screens do not completely cover the opening so we had to leave the doors closed for safety reasons. The tv remote was missing and they brought a replacement which didn't work but she managed to get the tv on using manual buttons on the tv...now we used the satellite remote to control channels, but we had no volume control...they assured us the volume would work but it did not. Finally, we asked for some deck chairs to sit on the little deck but apparently maintenance was too busy to get them out of storage Our cost for the cabin with taxes and wet wood..without proper tv and no chairs was just under $200. Not worth it and won't recommend.

This is the second time we have been to Tally Ho Inn. It is very peaceful and serene on the property. It's a short drive to Algonquin Park and we can bring our dogs. I recommend Tally Ho Inn to people all the time and will continue to do so. We will be back!
