Hochelaga Inn

It‘s really beautiful and the shared spaces and garden are lovely. The location is also great. But, the service wasn‘t. I stayed for five days - during that time my bin wasn‘t emptied, toilet roll wasn‘t kept stocked up, towels weren‘t changed etc. There was no sign of anyone doing the basic stuff. They did text me to ask for a tip though! The hotel offers an inclusive breakfast, but if you‘re vegan then you‘ll get a sad fruit salad and staff that are disinterested in making any effort at all. I ended-up going into town to get breakfast every morning. The last thing is that the pictures of the rooms flatter them - they‘re OK, but definitely not as nice as the photos suggest. I really wanted to like the hotel, but I wouldn‘t go back.

Found it on Expedia after searching endlessly as we were tired driving so accidentally found it. Great location, walking distance to the bay, restaurants and other downtown attractions but still tucked away on a quite street. Pros: historic charm, beautiful neighborhood and desire to maintain the historic building. Covered free parking was awesome in rain, great staff along with free cold breakfast items. Room: comfortable bed and bedding. Adequate toiletries and towels. Small tv, working bench etc. we were in a small room. Nice garden view they called city view. Very pristine view from our historic windows. Great customer service and did not hoard water, plenty of bottles to take upstairs. Fan and heater in the room. We didn’t use AC and left window open for fresh air. Good wifi Cons/ considerations: historic means lots of stairs. So if you’re booking check with hotel if you can’t carry bags or go upstairs. Even there are stairs for the first floor. Or may be another building doesn’t so check. Also you will need to walk in the rain a little to go to your room since it is a historic mansion. No in room coffee or hot water kettle for tea. Coffee in the lobby though. If you want additional items for breakfast like pancakes or eggs, there is CAD 8.5 charge which we didn’t realize when booking. But there was granola, pastries, yogurt, milk fruit etc. Room: small bathroom, limited outl

The location of this spectacular heritage building is perfect for those who wish to access all the treats of downtown Kingston and its waterfront on foot. The staff service from check-in through to check-out was excellent and courteous. The rooms are small but very comfrotable and extremely quiet. The only comment is that there is no small fridge for storing one's own drinks etc. The breakfast buffet, complimentary for all guests, offers a great selection of fruits, yoghurts, breads, pastries, meats, cheeses.... and so on. Lots to eat and enjoy! The Hochelaga Inn deserves all the accolades it has received over the years.
