Guest House on the Mount

I was concerned about the state of repair of room 318 based on my last stay, and asked to see the room before I registered. It looked OK so imagine my shock when I got into bed late at night and found the mattress was broken and I was sliding off while trying to sleep. In the morning staff apologized but did not give me a discount. I did get a self-serving response from the management to my complaint. They did not acknowledge that their staff said they would immediately resolve the problem (obviously they didn't follow through) and that my next trip there would be better. This is terrible customer service on top of a poorly maintained place. My family all tried Guest House in the past and now go to Specer's down the street. Based on this experience, I will likely do the same.

Very simplistic place. Be very aware when you are booking if you want a shared bathroom or not as this is not something that most people are used to. I had a private bathroom which was great as well a balcony was off our room which had a lock door which was nice as other people had the same balcony. There was a TV but only one channel worked and it was a very small old TV. One side table and one chair no desk. There was a communal kitchen so if you have food that you can actually prepare that that is very handy. It was overall quiet and the air conditioning was loud but worked very well. The only complaint that I had was that the linens did not appear very clean and there was hair in them. The picture is the door going to the balcony included. Staff was friendly on the second floor and that was handy to have 24 hour staff available. If you are ordering any type of food delivery make sure you're a very specific and down waiting for them as they cannot find it very easily. I think this is a common issue as staff had cameras and was laughing with me as a delivery person was trying to find us. Overall very friendly vibe and lots of common spaces if you were looking for that. There was makeup remover wipes in the bathroom.

The price is right and it is very quiet. It is like being on retreat in a beautiful setting. Some of the rooms need refreshing and you should ask for your own washroom if privacy is important. Be aware that the rooms lack additional electrical plugs needed for charging personal technology devices. The Guest House is within easy driving to a large shopping mall and a variety of eating places. The staff are very pleasant and helpful.
