Holiday Inn Express And Suites Markham

Pros: The room was clean, which is always a plus and necessary. The front staff very helpful and kind. Pros (reason for the 2 stars): This holel is extremely dated. The pictures on the website and on trip advisor (unless your scroll through reviews) was not the room we were given. Every wall is papered in golden yellow wallpaper, the flooring is not tasteful, the furniture well worn and dated. The bathroom needs a remodel as well. The area is industrial and did not appear safe to walk around Minimal restaurants available in the area The parking lot is not well lit and does have some “shady” looking spots you would not want to park and walk from. We had a 3 night stay planned and only stayed 1 night (checked in at 12:30 am or would not have stayed the night). Made a new hotel reservation elsewhere in a more desirable area with updated rooms.

We were there for 5 nights during the May long weekend. Ease of check-in enabled by the front desk staff despite heavy traffic.... notable mention to the helpful, efficient staff including Amanda, Pevish and Kesha. Hotel has good non-paying parking with a brightly lit, covered parkade. Special mention needs to be made for Renu and other young ladies who handle the counter-based orders at the cafe during breakfast. We are repeat customers and will continue to be.

1: the hotel charges for parking. We don’t understand why, despite similar hotels nearby offer complementary parking. 2: we did not request a mobility accessible room and we think those rooms should be made available to those who need them. 3: reception is unprofessional this time. They were not able to imitate express check in wi the our credit card on file. 4: no welcoming water or messages
