I stayed here at 3-4x their normal rate due to the Toronto Film Festival so it should be taken in consideration for my rating.
I stayed here in 2010 and I remember enjoying the spaciousness of the place which I still enjoyed this time around. However, even then I felt the hotel room was a bit dated (very early 90s vibes).
When I checked Cambridge Suites’ recent reviews on Expedia, Expedia said there were 9 reviews mentioning the room tier had been renovated.I was delighted to read this & booked with confidence at 4x the market rate. I was bummed to find that my room was not renovated & when I asked reception for a renovated room - apparently none of the rooms have been renovated. So it still remained the same as 2010, the early 1990s vibe. For guests who like the old school vibe, this will not be a problem. But I do not rest well in outdated rooms and so I didn’t sleep well the 2 nights I stayed. This is really due to personal preference/comfort level: I’m sure many other guests would be fine with the furnishings.
The pros: very spacious, this hotel famously started the suites trend in Toronto, lots of closet space and the microwave & fridge in room was convenient. Front desk team is nice . Lobby is nice.
Location is great & the driveway allows for easy drop offs with taxis and ride share.
Walking distance to Eaton shopping center as well.
Cons: the windows don’t seem to be double paned so there was garbage truck noise that was loud from the street. The AC in room blew on my face so I had to keep that one off and keep the one in living area on and keep the doors open.
I wanted to give the place more stars but I personally cannot feel fully rested in an outdated setting. I also was unable to steam videos on the Telly or chromecast which I’m used too.
If I paid the current market rate which is reasonably priced, I believe it would have helped a bit but little remodeling would go a long way.

Location is excellent, near to Union station, restaurants etc. the staff are friendly and helpful, our room was ok but things were beginning to look very tired, the bathroom doorframe was rusted out at the bottom and despite cleaning there evidence of mould in the grouting (which needs to be replaced). Dust and fluff in the corners suggests that cleaning could be more rigorous. The wall paper is lifting at the seams and is mismatched/misaligned. The bed is probably the best feature and is very comfortable. The breakfasts are ok but the coffee is the worst I have ever had, the hotel has a first rate espresso machine, I was told that it was not working, but it was plugged in and switched on, it was merely empty. One of the staff confided that it works but they have been told not to use it. I get the impression that management is trying to save money and avoid investment. There is a huge amount of construction underway in the city so do not expect a view of anything other than high buildings. This is a big city so expect to hear sirens etc. even on floors above level 20. The sound insulation is poor and noisy guests in the corridors can be an issue. My overwhelming feeling is the hotel is tired and needs to be refurbished. In terms of value for money, our room cost around $750 per night with taxes, I don't think that is good value. For me the disdvantages outweighed the advantage and I would not stay here again.,

This is a wonderful hotel to stay in. It is close to everything. Lots of restaurants to walk to. It is a nice walk to the lake from her. The staff is wonderful and very helpful. The rooms are a great value. They need some upgrading but they are very clean and roomy. Me and my friends have stayed here for years and never had a bad experience
