Redwood Bed and Breakfast

We had a wonderful stay at Redwood. Jin & Lin are excellent hosts, and their B&B is immaculately clean, well appointed and comfortable. Great home cooked breakfast every morning. The location is perfect---out of the fray of downtown, but super close to the Falls and the must-do goings on. We'd gladly go back!

Excellent location, easy walk to Niagara Falls, clean, in a quiet area. Lin and Jin, the hosts, were friendly and Lin made three excellent breakfasts for us, from scratch. (Didn't understand a prior review complaining about poor cereal choices, when the host made such nice, filling breakfasts with baked goods.) Our room was spotless and very comfortable. Good value. Would highly recommend.

My wife and I stayed 2 nights at Redwood Bed and Breakfast in September 2024. We booked the Amsterdam Suite directly on their website which was smooth and the follow up email with booking in instructions were clear. Location is good, within easy walking distance of Falls and Clifton Hill. We liked the slippers only rule. The Amsterdam Suite was spacious and clean, its located on the top floor (this can be an issue if you have a large case as the last flight of stairs is extremely narrow and very steep). It consists of a large double bedroom, bathroom and kitchen area also a table and fridge in the hall/landing. Our booking confirmation email also asked if we had "any dietary restrictions", so I responded No to this because in Ireland and UK this usually relates to food allergies and intolerances e.g. Peanut, Lactose, Gluten or if client is Vegan or Vegetarian and all other items are just a matter of taste. On the first morning we arrived down to the dining room at our allocated breakfast time-slot. The cereal, tea and coffee were self service. The first greeting from our host that morning was when he put our cooked breakfast on the table in front of us. This turned out to be a mushroom omelet (I don't eat mushrooms) but I didn't complain as I hadn't specified ( mistakenly assuming my host would check if that days option was acceptable before serving). My wife asked if she could have some fruit and was provided with a banana. There was only powder milk on display for the tea/coffee so we asked if it was possible to get fresh or UHT milk and this was facilitated. At the end of breakfast our host said the following mornings breakfast would be a type of egg muffin, I said that was fine and my wife asked if she could have just fruit e.g. a banana. We also asked if we could have some fresh or UHT milk for our room and we were provided with a small jug of milk (the powder milk provided in the room was in a half full 1L jar with a dispensing spoon also in the jar and in the interest of hygiene we didn't wish to use this). On the second morning our host arrived out with two cooked egg muffin breakfasts and no fruit for my wife ( apart from the 4 grapes on the plate with the muffin). Again we requested some fresh milk and it was served in a gravy boat. The door handle/lock on the apartment room door was loose and rather insecure. The kitchen area in the apartment had a fire escape door onto a small exterior balcony area with access to a fire escape stairway. This fire door had lock with a digital keypad on the outside that we considered a bit strange, again with a loose fitting lock mechanism. The kitchen area had tea and coffee but apart from 2 mugs and 2 glasses and two spoons there were no other items of delph. There were a number of odd plates in the downstairs dining area but that would mean carrying them up 3 flights of stairs so this rendered the kitchen area pointless. Our stay was very disappointing given the reviews we read on booking.com and our $630 could have been more wisely spent elsewhere.
