Holiday Inn Express Whitby Oshawa

Great experience staying at the Holiday Inn Express Whitby. Bed very comfortable, room was spotless. Room had a kitchen nook, comfortable chairs, nice lighting. All staff were courteous and accommodating. Breakfast had lots of options. Adequate parking even though the hotel was full. Would highly recommend and would be my first choice for a hotel in that area.

Great stay! I’ve started to really like the holiday inn express hotels. They are all usually newer and have great amenities when staying for long periods. Breakfast were great and I think the owner was there most mornings asking you if your stay was good. Also liked that the tables had salt and pepper and ketchup condiments ready. Not just the paper packets. My only complaint is the fitness room didn’t have any towels.

I can assure you the bad reviews were not made by employees it's THAT bad. The breakfast is horrible - I had to take my young kids to mcdonalds across the street. The fitness room was so filthy I decided to wait till we got home. you can definitely see the lack of staff. I've stayed here before many times and it's never been like this. The glass is filthy,,,everything is kind of grungy since my last stay in February 2024 The ladies who used to clean the rooms were very nice but the ones working here now barely mention a word. The rooms are not as well kept but the bathrooms are awful. So much dust. Like I said normally when I stay here I never have a problem. I'm curious if the steve who posted perhaps is the steve I met on my recent trip (it's the only reason I could see A comment directed to staff by a truly HONEST reviewer) I don't blame them for striking....they are hard workers...I was FLOORED to find out they barely make minimum wage......Disgusting when you think how much a room is a night,...They are out in the rain and cold and i saw a staff member from inside the hotel (not sure who she wwore glasses) go out and talk to them and tell them to be quiet. and then call the police When I asked at front desk why the staff were on strike I was told they were not on strike. But when I checked out I asked the young woman who told me they were indeed on strike. I hope this hotel gets back to where it was. I love the pool in the summer and the staff from before. For now I have booked my business and pleasure at another hotel from another chain I don't feel right supporting IHG hotels any longer. Bring back the old hotel please. with clean linens and rooms....not sure who the girl was that used to do breakfast but she was a riot and I miss that.
