Ottawa Marriott

Traveling as a family and coming from Quebec, we did not find the same warm welcome. Little in the way of smiles and friendliness. Woken up early by the noise of construction in the hotel. It would be good to warn guests about it. The bathroom is small and the expected cleanliness is not there. Too bad.

We chose this location for our Ottawa stay in large part because of what appeared to be a great kids play room. Unfortunately, what we found wasn't at all what appeared in any of the photos - limited toys, no couches/chairs, just...meh. The photos online are clearly from many years ago. The teens room is in similar, dated condition. Lobby elevators are up a small set of stairs, and the wheelchair/stroller ramp was walled off as a part of construction. We also had to purchase the $35/nt hotel parking pass with in and out privileges that we didn't use. This was disappointing because the hotel welcome email explicitly stated "$26 per night", but when we got there we were advised this was "per calendar day", so a two night stay counts as 3 "days"On the positive side of the ledger, service was friendly, morning coffee in the lobby was good, the pool was nice, and the location on Sparks Street is absolutely fantastic. Would still return if the price was right, but don't choose this for the kids/teen rooms unless they renovate/update.

Thanks to Sam at the front desk for his professionalism and helpfulness. After we arrived the evening before to a gruff greeting by his colleague, Sam helped to brighten each of our 2 days with his kind and genuine disposition. He even went outside to whistle for our taxi for us on our departure. During the breakfast buffet the hotel staff were all incredibly helpful and so cheerful! Despite the renovations we had a wonderful stay!
