Best Western Executive Inn

We are a fan of the best western plus hotels, but this one missed the mark. The bathroom in the room was dirty. When we spoke to the front desk they were not helpful and offered very little assistance. The door lock was not working correctly and was causing trouble making it difficult to enter the room. The hotel deemed it a safety issue and required that we move rooms. The second room was clean, the beds were very uncomfortable though. Because we moved rooms the hotel said our issues were resolved and refused any compensation for the trouble or dirty bathroom. The breakfast had good options but was poorly managed and limited seating. We ended up eating somewhere else because the wait time for staff to replenish hot food items was extensive. Definitely would not stay here again.

We stayed at this Best Western (Estate Road, Scarborough) in June 2026 for one night while in town for a surgical procedure. We booked a room with two queen beds and, after taxes, the original rate was approximately $440 for a Monday night stay. While the front desk staff kindly reduced the rate by $100 after learning the purpose of our visit, I still found the pricing to be excessively high for what was offered. The front reception staff were welcoming, professional, and genuinely helpful throughout our stay. Parking was plentiful and free, which was certainly appreciated. The hotel itself was clean in appearance and presented as a typical modern hotel. While everything looked nice, there was nothing particularly memorable about the property. Our room felt somewhat small, and the bathroom layout was quite awkward. The door interfered with access to both the shower and toilet, making the space feel even tighter. Unfortunately, housekeeping fell short of expectations. We found makeup residue on the bathroom countertop, smudges on the mirrors, and several long hairs on both the bathroom floor and inside the shower stall. Since both of us have short hair, this was clearly left behind from a previous guest. The most significant issue was the PTAC air conditioning unit. Whenever it engaged, it produced an extremely loud rattling noise. We attempted to identify the source of the rattling but were unsuccessful. By the time we considered requesting a room change, it was late in the evening, so we chose to stay put. The constant noise resulted in a very poor night's sleep for both of us. I estimate I slept only about three hours, as the unit repeatedly woke us whenever it cycled on. Guests should also be aware that there is no restaurant or room service available. There is a small snack area near the front desk, but no substantial food options on site for meals. The complimentary breakfast included with the stay was disappointing and not something I would recommend. Overall, while the friendly staff and free parking were definite positives, the high room rate, cleanliness concerns, poor sleep caused by the noisy air conditioning unit, and lack of amenities made this stay difficult to justify. Unfortunately, based on our experience, we would not choose to stay here again.
