HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS HOTEL & SUITES CHARLOTTETOWN

We had specifically chosen this hotel because of the walk-in showers mentioned in the hotel description. (I hate shower-tubs because I have already fallen in one). We are offered a discount since we arrived at 9 p.m. and without a reservation. The guy at the front desk gives our rooms to me and my sister. Me in a basement (yes, yes) tells me one of the nicest rooms and "upgraded" me; arrived at the room, next to the laundry room etc., I realize that it is a shower-tub combo contrary to what is mentioned on the website. At the same time, my sister calls me to tell me that she had a superb room on the 3rd floor. It’s not a room, it was an apartment with 2 living rooms, a kitchen, dining room, and a closed bedroom with a walk-in shower. Not to mention a beautiful balcony. At check-out, I ask the front desk why we both paid the same rate and had different rooms? I ask why I don’t have the walk-in shower. That’s all I was asking for. They tell me that she is going to talk to the manager and is going to give me a discount. I go to have breakfast, since breakfast is included, but there is clearly not enough room for everyone; the breakfast room is tiny. Anyway, after breakfast I go back to check out and surprise, the attendant tells me she spoke with her manager and they are giving me no discount. I got a walk-in rate. 😳. Anyway, I ask to see the manager and he just comes to apologize but will not give me a discount. I explain that the website is using false advertising by indicating a walk-in shower and that it is a criterion for me given my accident in the past. No compensation offered… very, very disappointed, I do not recommend.

We very much enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We arrived late at night after fleeing a terrible hotel downtown Charlottetown. The front desk staff greeted us with cheer and compassion, and did not hesitate when we asked to see a room before we committed to staying there (after a bad experience from the prior hotel, we were just a little concerned that all hotels in PEI were terrible). Our stay there was lovely. The room was spacious, clean and well maintained. The property was quiet, the breakfast was free and had a decent selection. We were so grateful for the hospitality. Highly recommend a stay at this accommodation.

This property went above and beyond to accommodate our family after a horrible experience at a nearby AirBnb where we needed to flee in the late hours of the night with our two children. The Front Desk staff were extremely patient with our inquiries prior to check-in which ensured our biggest priority- safety and security of our family. The beds were incredibly comfortable and clean. The room we had was in the basement with no carpeting and there was no smell whatsoever in the room from dampness but was fresh and light. The room was a bit outdated but cleanliness outweighs such factors in our books. Breakfast is ok but included which is a good perk travelling with a family. Potatoes could be cooked a bit more for our liking. Breakfast staff could additionally be more accommodating to guests closer to closing time as observed when approaching our table numerous times as a means for us to leave for them to clean up for the day. Otherwise, we were thrilled with our stay. We only wish we could have stayed longer!
