Very inexperienced front desk, and charged my account when my room was prepaid, would sleep in my vehicle before staying there again.

We stayed at this property, with the intention of connecting into Ottowa via bike trails. It was perfect for that, and well priced. The lake trails are beautiful. The hotel is a rebrand to a higher quality, after upgrading the property. We had no complaints about the hotel, but questioned if it was truly a Tapestry level hotel, due to location, building type and exterior upkeep. Also, the dining spaces felt like a dungeon with no windows in the basement of the building.

This hotel has 99 problems and signage is definitely one of them. It’s an old Ramada, and it shows. You thought (as did I) that the Hilton imprimatur meant attention to detail ? Nope.
First the good news: it was renovated, and there’s no work in progress. The pool is open, once you can find it.
It’s very small (about 2 meters by 5 meters maybe), saltwater and warm. The surround is a nice faux white marble, with a couple of brownish scum/dirt rings going all around.
I showered thoroughly after using that pool, using the big, permanent, pump-bottle gel provided in the room. The shampoo bottle was entirely empty, however. There’s also body lotion. Towels were brand new and thick (3 sets, for a 2-bed room).
Room has no carpet (which is good), and a fireplace I did not try to turn on. AC is quiet and efficient. Beds are comfy, with 4 pillows each.
The Nespresso coffee machine is on a cute pull-out shelf, which is not very deep, and has no power plug. You have to set the machine elsewhere to remove and fill the water tank, and to plug it in. There’s sugar, but no milk or creamer. I’d brought my own and stashed it in the brand new mini fridge.
Some elements remain unrenovated. The bathroom door had gotten the “landlord special” (slap some paint on), squeaked loudly and would only close with a hefty shoulder shove. After the first try, I abstained, for fear of becoming trapped inside. Likewise the hallway carpets had seen some things, and were definitely from the “stains won’t show” school of industrial decoration.
The view from the odd-numbered room is towards the lake, but you can only see the road. There’s a small elevator at each end of the building, and you’re much better off using the stairs if you can, and if you can find them. A very confusing building overall.
I paid 205$ CA for the cheapest room.
