We stayed at the Holiday Inn Montreal Centreville Downtown primarily to attend the Just for Laughs Festival. We saw both The Nasty Show and the Ethnic Show at Club Soda on Saint Laurent, and the hotel's location was perfect. It was only about a 7 minute walk, which meant we could avoid paying additional parking fees downtown.
The hotel is right in the heart of Chinatown, with Old Montreal also within easy walking distance. The room was clean, quiet, and comfortable, making it a good base for exploring the city.
One thing I appreciated was that the hotel allowed us to keep our car in the parking garage until 10:00 p.m. after checkout. Since parking cost just under $30, that extra time was a nice gesture and let us enjoy the city before driving home.
My only disappointment was the lack of flexibility with late checkout. I have been an IHG member for nearly 20 years and had hoped that long-term loyalty would be recognized with a complimentary late checkout, especially since the hotel was already accommodating with extended parking. It would have been a small but meaningful benefit for a loyal guest.
Overall, this is a solid hotel with an excellent location, particularly if you're attending events around Saint Laurent, Chinatown, or Old Montreal. I would stay here again, but I hope IHG and the hotel place a little more value on rewarding long-time loyal members with benefits such as late checkout.

We stayed here in July 2026 while visiting Montreal with my child. The hotel itself was lovely. The fish pond was a wonderful feature, and the staff were helpful, professional, and polite. Although this hotel stretched our budget, we chose it because it seemed family-friendly and offered convenient access to Old Montreal and the other tourist areas we planned to visit frequently.
Unfortunately, we found the surrounding neighbourhood was not safe for walking with a child. Because of nearby construction, we used the indoor mall connected to the metro station to reach Old Montreal. The entrance areas had people shouting, pacing, and sleeping outside. While returning through the mall, we were screamed at, harassed, and followed by someone, demanding I buy them food, in full view of the building's security.
On our next trip, we used an alternate route to avoid the metro station and saw numerous people openly using crack pipes and other hard drugs as we approached the bridge. As we crossed with other pedestrians, one person who was unable to stay on his feet stumbled into the road and collapsed into my child.
Our concerns were entirely about the neighbourhood, not the hotel itself. We genuinely enjoyed the hotel, its amenities, and the excellent service, but we would not stay here again because we did not feel comfortable walking to and from the nearby tourist attractions with a child.

Location was great. Unfortunately, the room’s air conditioner was not working. We turned it down all the way on arrival. It was at 23C then-within a few hours the room temperature had actually increased to 26C making for an uncomfortable night. Several of the elevators didn’t work. With our free breakfast no one explained to us there was a voucher system- we explained to the restaurant staff we had free breakfast, they asked for vouchers we said we didn’t have them- their response was to try to charge us rather than help us sort that out. We had to go back to front desk to do it ourselves, at which point the staff there originally wanted us to go back to our room and check if we had been given vouchers. We insisted they give us new ones. I expect better service- if I have a problem, it’s your job to fix it not mine. I’m the customer.
