COMFORT INN VAL D'OR

We arrived late both nights we stayed here. Front desk staff were friendly and nice as we spoke only a basic greeting and merci. They spoke English so everything went smoothly. Even though we had to take our luggage up to the 2nd flr our stay was still nice. Rooms and beds comfy and clean.thsnkfully pn a second stay there were some friendly locals or maybe even other guys staying at the hotel who offered to help us up with out suitcases ( there were 4 woman) we gladly took the offer of help. The breakfast was great. The woman who takes care of the food and was polite and efficient. The place was spotless. The food was fresh and plentiful. If I go this way again will definitely stay.

Trip for funeral. All other hotels were fully booked for a five-day stay. The Comfort Inn was our only option. Reception is weak. No elevator and even if the establishment has only two floors it is a significant disadvantage when carrying several suitcases. The carpet of the stairs is worn out and the ramp could use a brushstroke. A smell of old carpets or carpets a little dirty accompanies you for the first minutes but you get used to it. The style is old in keeping with the age of the building. It is a mid-range Motel but would be acceptable at a compliant price but certainly not at an Award that runs around $275-290 before taxes. At $195, the Value for Award ratio would have been acceptable. Breakfast included is limited, of average quality but we cannot compare to other establishments in the city. For comparison it would be 5 out of 10 compared to that of the St-Martin de Laval where the Award of the room is equivalent if not less. Often there was a shortage of products (beaten eggs, potatoes) and the person in charge of the reception also acts as the person in charge of the lunch room. So service that leaves something to be desired. The second day we arrived at the room and it had not been put in order. We had to ask for it. The next day when we arrived at around 21:00, the service had not been done and there were no staff left to take care of it. Fortunately the door to the product storage room had been left open. We used towels, glasses and coffee. We could also have called the reception but as there is only one person it could have been more complicated. So a 2.5 to 3 star establishment that changes a rate of a 4 star establishment in a context where rates are already very expensive in Val d'Or. We are told that this situation is secondary to the shortage of rooms.

Terrible, very old and dirty. Really too old. Needs complete renovation. It's very loud. I didn't lift the mattress sheets, but what I saw from the side was dirty. Lunch and coffee very very ordinary. The toaster had a lot of trouble.
