Not sure what happened over the last few years but what was a good option for centrally located accommodation in Santiago has gone well below what it used to be.
Pool non existent ( locked up and inaccessible) , rooms spartan to say the least, not even a cup for a coffee. If basic fare is your go for Brecky, then ok, otherwise give the breakfast inclusions a big miss...Room not very clean.. IN short it needs huge upgrade to come close to website presentation...

Here for one night only. We got a room quite high but still the noise from the road outside was terrible at night. Also, it was very light both during the night and the early morning, hard to sleep.
The bathroom was super roomy and very comfortable.
The hallway from the lift to the room was incredibly smelly, it smelled of food ALL THE TIME.
The breakfast was basic but the view was awesome.
I would not stay here again considering the other many options in Santiago

I stayed at Gen Rooms this past weekend as part of a spontaneous trip to Santiago, Chile. We booked the room as we were boarding our flight to Santiago and got a pretty good deal considering it was a very last-minute booking. The room we stayed in had all your basic amenities such as good Wi-Fi, air conditioning, heating (a necessity for guests staying in the fall), etc. For the price we paid, it was excellent value and I would stay there again if given the option.
The only reason I did not give this accommodation a 5/5 was mainly due to the complementary breakfast. The lady at the front desk informed us the complementary breakfast would be served from 7:30 AM to 10 AM every morning. We had booked tours that we’re picking us up at 8 AM so we were hoping to have breakfast beforehand so we could be well fed before the tours. The first day we went down for breakfast, the cafe was closed and the door was locked. When we mentioned this to the receptionist in the evening when we returned from our tour, she reaffirmed it was open from 7:30 AM to 10 AM every morning. We showed up for breakfast around 7:45 AM the following morning and we saw the staff opening the breakfast area. The door was locked and they told us breakfast was not open until 8 AM thus leaving me to believe there is some miscommunication between hotel staff. We were able to secure breakfast the last morning of our stay and it was pretty basic - it consisted of basic cereal options along with bread, sliced cheese, and butter/jam.
Another thing to take note of is that the hot water tanks are a bit on the smaller side. If two people take hot showers consecutively one after the other, the second person will likely have a colder shower towards the end.
Aside from that, I cannot complain about our stay, the accommodations and location were great for first time visitors to Santiago. Try to request a higher up room for excellent views of the Santiago skyline from your balcony.
