Crowne Plaza Hotel Maanshan

I have been in Ma'anshan exactly three years ago. I decided to stay at the same hotel again as in March 2016. After the stay, I can confirm ... it's still (almost) the same high level, 5 star hotel, as in the past. Very often, the quality and service is going down fast over the years. This is NOT the case with this hotel, BUT some minor details need attention! Make sure you keep it up and you will continue to be successful. You will certainly see me again when back in Ma'anshan!

I had stayed several times before at the Haiwaihai Crowne Hotel, as it calls itself. The location is still great and you still get a nice, clean and comfortable room for a very decent price. Reception is helpful. BUT: Food and beverages has deteriorated. Don't eat there if you don't get a private room for lunch or dinner. Even as hotel guests we didn't get one. You will be seated at a huge round table in the corner of a huge cold ball room with lousy service. Breakfast has become very bad too: hard to find a clean table, no latte or cappucino, no decent juice. Mini bar is truly mini, with total of four cans in the fridge it and may not be replenished unless you explicitly ask. There is cappucino in the lobby bar, but it is cold by the time you get it.

New name of the hotel: Haiwaihai Crown Hotel. Service not anymore on a standard Crowne Plaza level. All previous Crowne Plaza markings have been taken away and replaced with the new name however from the appearance, the current owner tries to be still very close to Crowne Plaza. I had an insect in the room which tells a little bit about the cleanliness. Shower room and bed room require urgent renovation and / or maintenance - all in all, at most a three star hotel ...
