For an international hotel the place had barely english speaking staff. Found only 1 staff that do in the 3 days I've stayed Bed is definitely in the firm side. The room is clean however the carpet is in bad shape. Definitely wear slippers. Shower is somewhat decent with working hot/cold. The ambiance of the place is definitely worn down. It has a motel 6 feel to it. For the price and location it is great value, just don't expect 4 stars quality. More to 2.5. Subway is about 10 minutes away. Also a famous restaurant near by for lamb halal hot pot thats 800m, 1st one in dianping with almost 7000 reviews. You can use the pictures top 10 dish to help yourself to order. Also a supermarket is next to it.

We were on a private tour of China, so the travel agency chose the hotel. When I saw the reviews, I tried to conviced them to change the hotel, but I was refused with the pretext that it was already paid. Bad choise not to refuse the check in! We changed the room 3 times until we gat a decent room. First, we were put in a smoking room, even though I asked for a non smoking one. Beside the smell of cigarets, the room smelled like old furniture and carpet dust. The second room was almost as bad, without the smell of cigarets. As we arrived after a trip of 20 hours, se had a nap in the second room. When I woke up, as I'm allergic tu dust and mold, I had an asthma crisis. The bathroom was smelling of mold. We asked for another room and, after pretending that they don't understand us, the front desk boys called the manages assistant. He was the only helpful person in this hotel. He gave us a decent room in terms of cleanliness. This last one I think was their best room as was twice as large as the previous ones. All the rooms were large actualy. One of the problems is that this hotel is smokers friendly, meaning that you can smoke in almost every common space. And the local people smoked even in the elevators! At breakfast at least they didn't allow smoking Don't make the mistake of giving your card for deposit. Pay cash and take it back upon checkout. When checking out I got a receipt that showed that my money were unblocked, but in reality even after 3 weeks they were still blocked! The breakfat was good. A lot of Chinese food, but also enough choices for continental breakfast: bacon, eggs, omelet, cheese, salmi, ham, cereals, fresh fruits. In case you want to try the restaurant, you'd better start learn Chinese: nobody in the restaurant spoke english. So no explanations for the menu. Point out something and hope it will be tasty. The prices are high, but the restaurant is nice and the staff is trying their best to please you. The air conditioning is working very wired: first will get the teperature up with 3-4 degrees Celsius, but in about 3 hours it will do its job.

4th year in a row at this hotel with sporting group. Big improvement is that Wi-Fi is now available throughout the hotel so you are not anchored to the desk. Nothing much else has changed, coffee still terrible, lack of English at front desk but bearable. Western style bakery next door godsend. 600ml coke for 60cents! Hutongs next door, market over the road, Wal Mart round the corner and Redi Teller for conveniences across the road. Hard beds but soft pillows
