we had few problems during our stay. but we loved and missing this hotel. service and cleaning was dull but we would like to comeback there:)

This place is nasty and the worst hotel I have ever stayed at! If you don't speak Chinese you are out of luck- there is no way to communicate because they speak minimal English! We had to go down the street to the Courtyard Marriott (which looks very nice by the way) to get direction cards to show taxi drivers to take us to tourist spots in the city..the Baoding was no help at all! The floors were dark and stained carpets up and down the hallways...no safes in the rooms...wallpaper falling off the walls... burns on ceilings from light fixtures.... HORRIBLE toilet paper that will not rip off.... beds that are literally like sleeping on a peice of plywood.... sink handles that looked like they had not been cleaned in years.... and worst of all, the service!!! The people were very rude and our first morning there we asked for more towels b/c the shower curtain is paper thin, the water leaked on to the floor, and we had to use our towels to clean up the dirty floor...when we requested more towels they said they would have to charge us for getting their towels DIRTY! What is a towel for? And it was their floors that were dirty! Only b/c our tour guide happened to be there and spoke Chinese did we get them to drop the extra room charges.... We asked for an iron and they brought toilet paper...I asked for towels and they never came back.... they could not tell us how to get an outside line to call out.... the rooms were smokey and nasty and the air in one of our team member's rooms did not work at all..... The rooms are very large but it doesn't matter b/c they are nasty and the employees are even worse.... They do shock you with a deposit when you get there and then when you leave it takes 45 min to check out b/c they have to go to EVERY room you were in to check and make sure it is all ok before they will give you your deposit back!!!!! We felt very unsafe and very disgusted staying here...oh and one more thing- the hotel restaurant for the "free" breakfast is great if you want cultural chinese food for breakfast and nothing else...we went down the street to McDonalds..... Do NOT stay here!!!!!!!!

I've travelled all over Europe and Asia. This is by far the WORST hotel I have ever stayed at. The staff was rude, non-accomodating, and unprofessional. They did not have my reservation when we showed up. After much haggling, they gave us a room but surprised us with a 5% "deposit" that they failed to mention when we booked the hotel. Over the course of our stay, the hotel masseuse kept calling and bothering us about their massage service, while the housekeeping staff failed to provide anything we asked for. When we checked out, they tried to charge us for phone calls we did not make. The room was big, but it wasn't worth all the headaches we had to go through. The hotel was only interested in getting as much money as possible out of their guests, while providing as little service as they can.
