I booked two rooms for an overnight stay at this hotel since from the review, this hotel has a shuttle service to the train station.
I took a taxi from the airport and even if I showed the driver the address, he got lost so I had to call the hotel and let the driver get the exact directions. Even if Beijing airport has an airport express and a subway, it is advisable to get a cab so you will not be looking around for the hotel, which in this case is like a 30 minute walk away.
This hotel is like a fortress, cars just cant enter since all entry points have boom which the guards manually open or close. Also, two cameras are positioned on each entry and exit points on the driveway. It gives you a feeling of a fortress or a place that is not welcoming to guests.
Front desk staff speak limited English so be prepared with your Mandarin and your translator.
Once I entered the room, I can see that it is an old hotel with my room facing the highway. Mine was a no smoking room since there was a sign but there was also an ashtray beside it. Go figure.
My room had a defective window and even if I complained, they did nothing about it, I was forced to sleep with the window ajar so I had to bear with road noise as well as insects, luckily these are just small moths but does not bite.
This hotel is not for those that have mobility issues even if minor since the shower has a bathtub that is a bit tall so egress and ingress requires planning. In my case, I had to lean on the table to balance myself even if I am 5'10" and a healthy one at that. I noticed that the marble table top counter was broken at the edge, maybe someone slipped and hit it.
Also, I noticed that the door peep hole has no cover on the inside and the diameter of the hole was huge, the biggest one that I had seen. So for women visitors be very careful.
Massage at this hotel is so expensive at RMB 700 per hour so I had a massage near the area. When you go out of the driveway go left, there is one spa that is on the basement, avoid that, go to the one near it that is on the second floor. Its around RMB 180. There is also a restaurant with an english menu near there.
After dinner and massage, we went to our rooms at around 11:00 PM and the hallway was so dark that I had to use my cellphone camera to see my room. When we checked out at around 6:30 AM, the hotel staff turned on the lights. This is to save on electricity , but management should have installed sensor lights for the convenience and safety of its guests. Can you imagine if there is fire and the hallway is so dark?
