Beijing Meiyuan Hotel

We booked this hotel via booking.com and tried to email them many times but they didn't respond, on the day our flight scheduled to fly at 14:00 but get delayed to 20:00... We email them once more to notice that our flight is delayed and please keep our room because we definitely will be really late for check-in, and still they didn't respond of course... We booked 2 rooms (5 travelers), but when we arrived only 1 room available... They said because we late to check-in, our room is rent to another customer... So we 5 slept in 1 room, 3 beds and 1 extra bed... The toilet had water leaked, breakfast was okay...

I was following GPS with taxi driver. But I didn't find it. GPS told me to walk 6 mins. So I have walked through dark street and didn't find it. So I found way to call to them. I have tried international call. Then I have contacted with them. And then I find another taxi so I gave him my phone. Finally I have found this hotel other side what GPS were following me. That was so bad for me. Because I have booked a room there and I can't find it. Now I am ok.

This hotel was okay for a budget hotel. We are from Canada and live in China, so we have been in our fair share of budget hotels so we're not complaining about that~ Pros: The bed was big and the sheets were clean There was a security door which required card access to get to the rooms We were close to the west train station Cons: No English at the front desk They questioned my passport ~ for those who travel often, I found this frustrating. We have a residence permit in China, which means we get multiple entries. The lady at the desk kept looking through my stamps and asking when my date of arrival was, and why I had left in September, etc. Which doesn't matter, because we are residents! It is not just a one time entry. Eventually she just photocopied every single page of my stamps in the passport and we went on our way because we couldn't communicate at all. The room had tons of dead bugs on the wall (mosquitos) that obviously were killed by previous customers of the hotel. They hadn't cleaned them off the walls or ceiling in a while it seems. That would be a simple fix in small details that make it appear much cleaner ... We had two rooms (4 travellers) and we had both put our Do Not Disturb signs on the door. They went into our rooms anyway and cleaned and made the beds, which we didn't really want them to do. When we arrived back to the hotel after travelling for the day for our second night's stay, our keys to our room had he deprogrammed and didn't work on our room doors anymore. Had to go to the desk to get them fixed. The wifi didn't work in our bedroom. I think it was okay in the lobby. Overall, it was a fine place to rest your head if you don't want to spend a lot of money, but I wouldn't go out of our way to stay here again unless some things really got fixed up:)
