Holiday Inn North

The hotel was a few minutes’ walk from the exit of metro station. There were some local restaurants nearby. The environment was quiet. The facilities were a little bit old. However, the price was lower than many Holiday Inn hotels.

It was a little bit of a mixed bag. First the room was spacious snd comfortable. The big negatives was the lack of a aircon. Though there is one in the room, merely the fan works so it was very uncomfortable to sleep when the room was 25 degrees. The bathrooms are in need of a paint and refurb. I ordered room service 2 nights in a row and each night it took over 45 minutes. I had to call repeatedly to follow up where my order was and i was very disappointed by the untoasted and bland club sandwich and vegatable pizza which had potatoe chips on it. The breakfast buffet was good from an Asian perspective with many options but very poor from a Western perspective. The lack of English amongst most staff is hard to overcome and quite frustrating but at least they were patient. Location is good and overall though there were a few negatives, these can be easily overcome

I got an upgraded room so I could enjoy more space than normal, i.e. an additional living room area with a big sofa and table. I always appreciate a work desk where I can do some computer tasks and that was also in the room. The bed was really comfortable and as usual you can choose pillow type (soft/firm). Bathroom was clean and spacious and the general impression of the room was good. Breakfast consisted of both chinese and western food, a good selection of both. I did not get to try it but they also have a swimming pool and fitness center.
