Poly Hotel

It is located in the north of Canton, next to the University. Away from the center and the metro station, where you arrive by bus or taxi. In the neighborhood there is a small shop (grocery store, catering) because of the students. The hotel has a large entrance and the rooms are spacious, bright and well furnished. The bathrooms are renovated. The beds are big. Cleanliness could be better. The staff speaks only Chinese. Breakfast meals are exclusively for Chinese. A wide variety of plant products alone. No coffee is offered.

I spent four nights at the Poly Hotel for a conference at the Guangdong University of Foreign Studies. The room was big, fitting two double beds, arm chairs and a good sized writing table. The toilet is also clean and big with a long bath and shower in it. Although the condition of the room and carpet is somewhat dated, there is no smell or evidence of mould. The airconditioning kept the room at a comfortable modulated degree. Beds are made and the room cleaned everyday. I had a special rate through Agoda so feel it is good value at about US 50 per night inclusive of daily buffet breakfast. The location was a little difficult for the taxi to find from Baiyun International Airport to find. Taxi fare is about 70 RMB according to the metre; toll of 12 RMB has to be paid in addition to the metred fare. Better tell the taxi to take you to 'Guang Wai' which is the local name for the university. Poly Hotel is just next to the North Gate of 'Guang Wai' ('guang wai bei men' ) . There are several little eating places outside the hotel serving local Chinese fare. Opposite the hotel is a bakery called 'Emmeus' and other cafes serving western snacks and coffee (e.g.ground from Arabica beans). The hotel is a good 15 minute walk from the subway station and also on the bus route to Cong Hua hotsprings. I would stay there again if I had to be near Guangdong University of Foreign Studies. The only challenge I faced at the hotel is that their WIFI signal is at times intermittent, particularly at night. It takes some switching of wifi hotspots to get a good signal at times. Other than this issue, I would rate this hotel a really great place to stay!

Located beside the Guangdong University. Easy access to lecture rooms and a variety of restaurants that dazzles our taste on chinese cuisine. I never to miss drink on the street is the dragon fruit drinks. So refreshing taste. The rooms are comfortable and room service is excellent. Even though that English is a bit of challenge to the hotel staff but they ensure That your comfort is paramount. Breakfast is included and buffet setting with soups vegetables meats and vegetables done in a way that really satisfy our morning appetite.
