This is the first hotel I had canceled future reservations on. We were here on business and supposed to stay an entire 6 nights but fled after just 2.
THE GOOD -
The downstairs cafe and restaurant has likely the friendliest service staff I have seen anywhere in China. Food was not half bad either. Grab a cold beer or large bottle of water for about $1 USD makes this hotel lounge the deal of the year! (I spent about $10 USD on a beer in the Ramada Shanghai).
This place is close to the convention center. It only took us about 15min even at the height of rush hour. When we were here they also offered a free shuttle back and forth.
THE NOT SO GOOD
I don't know how to put my finger on it but all of us on the trip instantly were aware of the general feeling of decline in this hotel. We can start with the half renovated and half disgusting bathrooms and move to the wallpaper that needs a good changing or cleaning.
The walls were generally filthy as was other small areas and the hallways were a disaster. Internet was a total pain to set up. It required the standard Cat5 cable but also custom configuration of IP settings in your computer. No plug and play here.... that said after 45minutes of actually getting someone to help us, we finally experienced very speedy Internet.
It's not a horrible place, just that there are better hotels in better areas for almost as cheap. Yes.. it's a budget hotel. Love the staff downstairs and wish I could say better BUT...
Had 3 of us booked in the hotel for 6 nights (so 18 nights total) and booked via Agoda. Because of their policy ( I never had any fees using hotels dot com) they only refunded me 50% of my money for completely unused. I am tired of the inflexibility of Agoda but that did not affect my rating of this place.
