Private Apartments - Guanghongtianqi

I stayed at this hotel in November 2011 (booked via booking.com) I was "upgraded" to a 1 bedroom after booking a studio because they gave my room to someone else whilst my luggage was still in the room! I was then charged for the 1 bedroom and was told that they "lost" the receipt book - English is not strong with reception so it was a very frustrating experience. PROS * It was very cheap at CNY350 per night, I picked this place as I was visiting friends in the neighbourhood. * It's not a "happening" area but there are a couple of restaurants, cafes around the place. Bakery directly underneath the apartment is lovely * King bed in the 1 bedroom apartment, big & bright * Furnishing very new CONS * Unprofessional, run by a group of people in their 20s with virtually no English * Only accepts cash or Chinese bank cards * Requires a $500 upfront deposit * Not a hotel, it is an apartment in a separate complex mixed with local residents * Everything is in Chinese - I couldn't work the cable TV or anything electronic. * No heating in the room, I was up till 3am shivering in bed, it gets VERY cold. * Peeling pain in main bedroom and bathroom, water damage in bathroom. Shortly after checking out, I realised that I had left a very valuable item at the hotel. I called and was advised that that they could not locate the cleaning staff and would return my call as soon as possible. After not hearing from them, I called again the next day, I was advised that the other front desk staff had forgotten to speak to the cleaning staff. The following day, I called back again and was told to email them again as they cannot return international calls. Eventually, I received an email from the hotel advising me that they had thrown it in the rubbish bin. As a frequent traveller, I have at times left items in hotels. I have always been able to recover these items especially when staff can recognise that the item is very valuable. In addition to being over charged, having my privacy violated, sleeping in a freezing room, I was also left heavily out of pocket as a result of this unfortunately stay.
