Raystar Hotel

The Raystar Hotel for me was a decent choice for the Canton Fair. I found their service to be excellent. The staff cared and seemingly went out of their way to provide all services quickly and efficiently. The breakfast was marginal and the area is not the greatest (slightly industrial and not many restaurant choices), but the 10 minute free shuttle to the Fair and back is quite easy. I did not try the restaurant in the hotel but did try a massage for 188 RMB / 2 hours! ($29US - not bad). Not a bad way to cap a long day of walking at the fair. The beds are firm but prices are very reasonable. If you just need an inexpensive cheap and clean place to crash and relax. This isn't bad at all.

Arrived at 0030 hrs to find the following; 1. Photos on website are totally misleading. 2. Beds are rock hard 3. Rooms very dated 4. Restaurant- Food not edible 5. Safe in room not working...promised a replacement but never materialised in 8 nights 6. Continous noise from main road outside hotel 7. Noisy air conditioning On the plus side staff were very helpful. To conclude if you are considering a trip to Guangzhou avoid this overpriced,over starred and totally dated hotel.

This hotel was clean, rooms large and spaciouse. Bed are .Hard as rocks, you may as well be sleeping on the floor. Very, very, very noisy all hours of the night. Cheap for a reason. Staff very helpfull and hotel is clean
