Fubang Hotel

This is very much a Chinese hotel run in a Chinese style. It's certainly not a Marriott or a Mercure, so if that's what you're looking for, this place is not a substitute. It does have clean rooms and is generally conveniently located. The staff struck me as nice, although English was limited of course. With a good deal, you will not likely be disappointed with this property.

This is a really crappy hotel. Sort of clean( but not really). Poorly appointed. Smoking seems to be everywhere in the hotel - lingering. Breakfast was very average. Dated and small rooms. I stayed here for 5 days and really don't have anything positive to say about it. Starbucks in on the opposite block, 15 minutes away. I guess that's a positive.

I travelled to Shenzhen for business and had meetings in the Futian area. I booked this hotel for three main reasons: 1. It was extremely close to Futian and subway system 2. The price was surprisingly inexpensive for a 4 star hotel 3. Traveller reviews of this hotel were positive. As a general comment the hotel was good (even above average) but there were a few problems. The hotel location was excellent for anyone who wants to have close access to Nanshan/Futian areas. It was a short 5 min walk to the subway system (Daxin Stop). There were an abudance of food shops, restaurants and shopping within 1~2 of the hotel. Location was excellent. I was able to get the hotel rate very reasonable (~$55 USD) with breakfast included. The room was tastefully decorated with the bathroom being an open glass design (See photo). Either the room I stayed in had been unoccupied a longer time or it was not cleaned well since there was a large dead cockroach laying beside the toilet (also took a photo). It was my feeling that the hotel in general is targeted towards Chinese visitors. All people at the front desk spoke limited to no english. The beds are on the firm side as most asian hotels are. TV was non-existent for a non-Chinese speaking person, all channels were Chinese. I called two times for a wake up call at 7:00AM and was assured everything was ok. Thank god I set my smart phone alarm clock as well since I did not receive a call. So, if you want a general nice hotel, good location and are ok with dealing with the language issues, then please stay at this hotel. Otherwise I would suggest staying at the Mercure Oriental Ginza in Shenzhen.
