Green Oasis Hotel

For travelers planning to stay here, take note the nearest metro station at time of writing (Mar 2019) is Lingzhi station. Do NOT alight at Fanshen, as it is too far and unsafe to walk from, especially at night, since you will need to cross an overpass above a busy road. The metro lines seem to be expanding very rapidly, thus there may be a station even closer in future. Lingzhi is an easy 10 - 15 minute walk to the hotel. Also, do take note that if you are planning to visit Shenzhen as a tourist, stay at a hotel in or near Louhu instead. Bao'an is too far away from the main tourist and shopping areas (40 to 60 minutes by metro), and the commuting time is not worth the cheap price of this hotel. The hotel staff, like most of the people in this district, do not speak English well. Google translate will be useful. Nonetheless, the hotel provides a safe, comfortable and clean stay. I must point out that during my checkout, I left a tip in my room and the counter staff told me about the money left behind (in halting English); which I then said was a tip for the housekeeping staff. I booked a Superior King room, which was pleasantly spacious. The bed linen was fresh and crisp. I liked that the bed was firm and allowed me a very good sleep, although this may be a matter of personal preference. As reported in previous reviews, there is a PC (although it is essentially useless for those who do not understand Chinese since one cannot access Google, etc and one needs to read Chinese to alter the language settings), flat screen TV (Chinese shows), electric kettle, electronic safe and air conditioning with heater function (the buttons are in Chinese, so you need to have a friend translate for you). The bathroom was also spacious and very clean. It seemed that the housekeepers wiped down the sink and toilet as I found very little or no water stains. The tap and shower had very good water pressure. 2 bath and 2 face towels were large and absorbed water well. I would suggest bringing or buying your own shampoo and soap though. To address / update some of the previous reviews: 1) The window opens about a foot, which I believe is to allow air into the room. A stopper prevents opening the window any further. Thus, unless you are an agile sleepwalker or intent on jumping off the room, I would not say this is a hazard. 2) The drinking cups seemed a little sketchy (dirty), so I used my own cup instead. 3) Housekeeping came everyday, even if you put up the DND sign. I am not sure why they disregard this, but my items were left untouched and my room made up, so I was happy anyway. 4) There is no restaurant in the hotel. However, there are many places for food around the hotel, including a small Muslim restaurant just beside the supermarket on the right of the hotel lobby. 5) Ask for a room on the higher floors (6 or 7). Rooms facing the back of the hotel overlook a bus depot and a little of the skyline. Those facing the front overlook a road and the eateries / shops in the neighbourhood. 6) WIFI is TERRIBLY slow, although the signal shows full bars! Don't count on the PC for internet access as it is also very slow (appears to be dial-up modem speed) and everything is in Chinese.

My room in the hotel was extremely unhygienic and unsafe. The walls had rising damp, to the point that not only were the walls brown, the skirt-boards were falling off the wall. The light fittings were loose, the room stank of smoke (even though it was advertised as non-smoking), and the washroom smelt like an open drain. Worst of all, the window was severely cracked and held together with tape. Luckily I was travelling alone, but if I had my daughter with me, it would be extremely dangerous.

This hotel is located a bit outside of the city but close to a subway station. Therefore, getting around the city is easy. The staff does not speak English but they have super translation devices, so communication is not an issue. Close by is a shopping mall, many restaurants and a few bakeries. The room was clean but the bed a bit hard. All in all we would stay here again.
