Ramada Plaza Shenzhen

Since I need to be closed to Shenzhen North Train station for my next day journey to Hong Kong, a colleague recommended this which is really not an international hotel despite the name. I arrived at almost 4 pm and was told rooms are not available despite I have done my bookings weeks ago and was confirmed. After my insistence did they then upgraded me since it is only a night stay, huge suite room but very local decor, what is worse is that on entering the room there is a foul smell. The smell however is only at the entrance walkway. Overall I would not consider this an international hotel given the way it is managed

Not recommended for traveling expats. Booked a single night while visiting from Huizhou, where I live and work. They refused to check me in as I didn't have a recent virus test, despite the fact I live I the same province and haven't traveled outside the province since my last test. Apparently foreigners need a recent covid test to stay here, no matter where they travel from.

Clean and tidy with very big rooms with a desk and seating area. Ideal for a short business stay on this side of Shenzhen. The food in the hotel resturant was good, however there is also a good selection of resturants in the imediate area. Staff were very helpfull and explained to taxis exactly where to go and how to return to the hotel, which can be difficult as no taxi drivers speak any English.
