Xiao Mei Sha

The hotel is beside the Xiao Mei Sha, one of the beaches in Shenzhen. The entrance fee to Xiao Mei Sha was CNY30 but it could be waived if you showed the room card. Although there was a swimming pool in the hotel, it opened only for several hours a day. However, Xiao Mei Sha opened round the clock.

Hotel is lovely and sits overlooking the private beach. Entry to the beach is free by showing room cards. We arrived mid October and although it was 30 degrees plus and the sun was cracking the flags, they closed the outdoor swimming pool. There was supposed to be an indoor pool but I didn't get to check this out as the doors were padlocked. The food in the hotel is very limited for those with Western tastes. Also the dining room staff spoke very little English and we were subject to staring and giggles (wish I could speak Chinese!) The prices were also quite expensive for what you got. I tried the chinese food but wasn't very impressed. The best food was from the little Barbeque Shack on the hotel front, overlooking the sea. You choose your own food and they cook it for you. For two of us a typical meal would cost around 100 RMB (about £8.50) and this included a couple of beers each! A taxi from Luo hu Railway Station to the hotel takes about 30 minutes and would cost around 67-70 RMB (under £6 at current rate), however to return to Shenzhen centre the taxis are hard to get hold of, certainly out of season and the hotel will order a car for you the car will charge 120 RMB (around £10). The reception staff were polite and courteous and did their best but only a couple of girls spoke English. The cost of the hotel was very reasonable but I think next time it will be the Sheraton in the next bay, Da Mei Sha.
