When i first read the review from travellers, i thought this hotel must be avoided. But as i search through some chinese website, this hotel receives so much good appraisal that i decided to give it a try, and turn out, it is really different from what i see from tripadvisor. I belive this hotel has undergone major renovation and it has now become a very comfortable and nice hotel. Getting to the hotel is not as difficult as i thought. Since i travelled to Yangshuo from Guangzhou using the hispeed train, u need to get down at Yangshuo train station, which is about 33km from the town of Yangshuo. Upon exiting the train station, turn to your left and u will find public bus ticket counter. Buy the direct bus ticket at 20 Yuan and travel for about 40-50 minutes, you will arrive at Yangshuo bus station. Upon reaching the bus station, take bus 604 right at the bus station, and pay 1 Yuan, get down at Xi Jie Kou (West Street Entrance) and walk into West Street. The hotel is right in front of the lake opposite McD. The hotel receptionist wasnt able to offer much information of the tourist information in Yangshuo, and will keep recommending to take their pre-planned trip/package. If you need more information, probably the best is to get to Yangshuo Tourist Information Center within walking distance from the hotel. Room wise, big and comfortable (depend on which room u book). I went there during non-peak season, and got upgraded to a deluxe room. During my stay, Yangshuo temperature dropped to 3degC. Luckily heater is provided. You can choose to stay in a room facing west street shops row, or facing the lake. Would recommend room facing lake as those room facing street are very noisy, especially during late night as the loud music from the street is actually quite annoying. It played until midnight. If asked whether I will be staying here again for my next trip, I would probably say no, as there is actually nothing much to do in West Street (my personal point of view) and I will stay at any other hotel with a more convenient transporattion.

This hotel couldn't be better situated. A short stroll and you are in the lively area in the centre. Not sure how much it costs per night as we are on a organised tour but it's a comfortable and clean hotel. Our breakfasts were fine and suits all nationalities. The hotel doesn't have a bar but you only need stroll a short distance and there are hundreds. We had a comfortable stay and would have been happy to stay longer.

Yangshuo was one of our favourite places in our 4 week tour of China. The West Street Hotel is centrally located and some rooms, including ours, had balconies overlooking the main street. Even though there was plenty of night life outside, we found the room quiet enough - they must have double glazing on the windows. Either we were lucky, or the hotel has improved a lot, because we experienced none of the problems described by other reviewers. It's certainly not a luxury hotel, but the rooms were large and comfortable enough. The first morning we had breakfast at the hotel - which was pretty basic, and wasn't included in the tariff - you can do better by walking down the road where there are lots of great restaurants to choose from. The staff at the West Street Hotel were very happy and helpful - even carried an umbrella over me to protect me from the rain when we walked to our bus when departing.
