Jin Jiang Grand Hotel Tangshan

I lived in this hotel a couple of months. Rooms in 3rd floor are quite small. Furniture its of a *** Western hotel, but maintenance was deficient and repairs the kind of grand mother style with glue and Scotch tape. Bad room its OK. Bed clothes were stiffed and plenty of detergent um to the point of causing injury on toes and knees. If due to this you stain the clothing with blood, you even get a fine. Swimming pool facilities look abandoned and were dirty. The Chinese/Western and the Japanese restaurants match with the lobby shops that sells brands that no one knows but resemble well know ones for exorbitant prices and the people working there make the favor of serve customers if and when they want it. Front desk and bar people are friendly and helpful but miss a service background to support them. Bar at lobby is simple but cozy to a drink after work, but is regrettable the hotel allow several "masseuses" to promote their services in a insistent way even after getting a negative answer. After a interrupted drink, room is not a safer place; guests get more calls a night offering "massagy" and a couple of door nooks. Apart all moral issues about it (that can vary a lot) it is very unpleasant not be able to rest before a hole working day. Unfortunately the hotel management never took any action regarding that surplus on "massagy" offer, just re-routing my phone trough the operator to filter calls. During my stay there was a big Karaoke being built near and there was possible testify some locals doing big cash transactions over table on bar. One day a group of 10 + equipped with hand guns and machetes crossed the lobby, the bar and took the lift. They didn't bother any guest and left the hotel 15 minutes after with their business accomplished. Police showed up near 2 hours after and remained near main entrance for a week. Apart all this I would recommend this hotel because is one of the best hotels (few)in the city for foreigners. It may sound strange but it is safe. If you don't have a very good guanxi just stay out of others businesses and politics and nothing bad will append to you. China in general is safe.

Strange looking hotel with big satellite dish and glamorous karaoke centre in front of it, show us that this building is doing its best in Tangshan city. Weird Japanese VIP saloon with gorgeous furniture finish is very good place for smaller business dinners and meetings. Luxurious toilets inside the hotel are just outstanding and these were my favourites. Varieties of pretty expensive porcelain cups from famous Chinese dynasties are permanently exposed above your head when you’re enjoying your drink in one of the huge lobby’s sofas. With pedicure man service, dressed in traditional white Chinese toga, huge fish aquariums above toilets bowl and arts all around make this institute very special. Restaurant is incredible huge with perfect service personnel, so don’t miss this one if you want to have real royal treatment. Rooms aren't the bright side of this hotel, but they look warm, clean and nice with all this oriental ambient. All night long, low tuned instrumentals are playing from the room’s hall. It’s a very pleasant place for stay. The best one in Tangshan, this is for sure.  

Some changes since the web site was produced. Fitness Suite doesn't seem to have a gym any more. Swimming pool (indoor) is across the road and very basic. Room was small but very clean with all facilities. Breakfast excellent with choice for every taste. Don't expect western food at other times although KFC, Pizza Hut and good old McDonalds close by. Hotel and room very quiet, no atmosphere in bar or lounge. Service excellent, laundry very good, Staff very eager to please, English speakers available. Internet access not charged. All told a very good functional hotel with no pretensions, clean and quiet, comfortable beds. Absolutely fine for business user, who would want to go to Tangshan for vacation anyway?
