Hotel Indigo Harbin Central Avenue

Location and breakfast are the two highlight of this hotel: cross the road and you are waking on the local river (in winter), go back and you are on the main shopping/restaurant street in Harbin. Breakfast was large and tasty.

From the start the hotel looked very good great location and very nice lobby with lots of very taste full Christmas decorations and we were able to get a room over looking the square and the river with the largest king size bed you have ever seen at 1588 CNY a night so we thought it should have been good. But no let me tell you some of the things I remember. First forget about getting any rest in the room between 6:30am and 9:30pm the room is not sound proof and the road around the square is really bad in China they do not use indicators just the car horn for everything. The wifi in the room was the pits 2hrs and could not get a simple sms out on Skype the shower was a joke the water would run away from the drain across the base over the lip and flood the whole bathroom, Also the room was not cleaned before us as there was black boot marks on the carpet and one of the coffee cups had something really bad in it it was not tea or coffee leftovers and don't think you can have a coffee in your room every day they only give enough for two black coffees on a three day stay no milk no sugar but I think the worst thing about the room was the air con. The Hotel dose not have a no smoking rule, We would go out of the room for an hour or two and on returning we would have to open the window for about 1/2 an hour as the room smelt of smoke bad sox and something else and when it is -26c to -30c outside that is saying a lot, The mini bar had a big list for charges for a few things on opening the fridge nothing 4 1/2 hours later they came an put three cans of soft drink in the fridge and that was it for three days, One night I really felt like a beer so I went down to a nice looking bar they had next to the lobby at the tables they only had list of tea and coffee so I walked up to the bar were the wall behind it was full of every type of spirit and cocktail mix you could want but I was told they only serve tea and coffee there if I wanted a beer I would have to go to the restaurant up stairs were none of the girls speak any english so after playing around with phones for 5mins they got my order only have Harbin beer at room temp. and that was about 26c to 28c so it tasted like cats pi.. and at three times the mini bar price. The breakfast in the hotel is served from 7:30am to 10am but if you get there after 8am forget it one day I did not get down there until just after 8:30am what food was left was cold as they do not have the heaters on under the servers half the food they do not replace when they run out most of the fruit has gone and the juices they top up for about 1 1/2 to two glasses but there glasses are small for kids glasses about 4oz I would think and I also noticed after 8am staff from other parts of the hotel administration and business I think come through and help them selves to the food as well there was many other things I could just keep going in many cases the lack training in staff across the board I was also told by someone the that is why they bo not serve drinks at the down stairs bar as they do not have anyone that knows how the mix drinks. ;

Great location and value for money. The room was clean and tidy. We stayed 1 night but I would stay in this hotel again.We also had the breakfast on offer and thought this was great value as well. At the end of the street you are near the river which was frozen. An amazing site.
