Stayed here for 1 night in February 2010 (rather than October 2010 as when I wrote this review it would only allow me to go back 12 months) during the Harbin Ice Festival. As mentioned in another review the checkin process took ages and they also took money for a deposit for the room. In any hotel previously which looked for a deposit they take a swipe of your credit card as security, here they actually took money. There was a French family checking in at the same time as us and they also thought this was strange.
As for the hotel itself, it's in a decent location near the train station. Unfortunately that's the one positive, the staff were unhelpful. the rooms were dreary and there was very little choice for the breakfast. Having stayed in other 4 star hotels in China this is more like a 2 star hotel than a 4 star hotel. There is a bowling alley and pool shown in the photos - as we were only there for 1 night we did not get to visit these.

Where shall I start? A four star hotel???? What a laugh! Smoky, ugly, uncaring, and EXTREMELY DIRTY!!!!!!!!! Check in took forever. They made us pay a large sum of money as security for the mini-bar items. They first led us to a room in which people were still there (!) and then took us to another (in which the mini-bar was NON-EXISTENT). Everything was smoky and dirty (even though supposedly clean). The carpet had HUGE black spots all over it. It had probably never been shampooed! There was a HUGE clump of hair on the carpet. When I alerted housecleaning about it, they simply picked it up with their hand and thought that was fine. Then when I insisited on a vaccuum cleaner, they got one that was barely working and tried to spot clean! The vaccuum got up nothing and there was no mention of a shampoo. And of course, no apologies. The hotel is FAR from the "river" and therefore you have to take taxis. (The taxi drivers are ripping you off every chance they get!) Do NOT waste your money in this place...or anywhere in Harbin in my opinion.
